Anyone see Griner give the louisville coach that go to hell look when he tried to speak to her right after the game? She gave him the evil eye and walked off. Incredibly poor losers.

What would you have done hugged his neck.:)

The LC put a player in G face, waving her arms 24/7 furiously up against G. That and adding 2 more players when the ball went down into the paint. Great team plan for the LC. It worked just fine. There were many bad calls where G went over the back and wasn't called. I like our chances.

Go Vols!!!

I had a tab open while they did the interview with griner (who of course was complaining about the refs and not getting calls)

and the first thing I thought was "dear lord, why are they interviewing a male assistant right now"

I guarantee if she tries to go to the olympics or ever gets a hormone test/proper test they will find she has a condition of some sort.

"She" was suffering from an enlarged prostate, cut her some slack.

She's far from the only scorer on this team. Someone needs to tell her to quit shooting the dang ball when she's missing.

Normally coaches want their top scoreres to shoot their way out of their poor shooting stretch. I can't remember the exact game earlier this season but Simmons had a similar night only to hit 4 straight 3s in the last few minutes of the game...because she continued to shoot when open. What Simmons doesn't need to do is take rushed shots with someone in her face with plenty of time on the shot clock. But I suspect Holly wants Simmons to keep shooting as long as it is an open shot.

I have no problem with her shooting when open. It's her deciding to just scrap the offense and drive/shoot as soon as she gets the ball every time that drives me crazy. Keep shooting, sure, but not every single possession.

i didn't know it,but Simmons had tweaked her ankle in the collision, that might have had some thing to do with her poor shooting in the 2nd half

Yeah, but I think it is mainly that she just gets wound up too tight and takes herself out of the game mentally. It is like with the foul she committed going for the steal... just over aggressive and wanting it too much.

She has toned it down to where she is not so bad during the season but she gets amped up come tournament time. Some people are just high strung. If she ever just learns to play in the moment and not in her head then she will be deadly.

I am expecting Simmons to hit about 8 threes versus Louisville. She is always great when we play them.

I don't think we could beat this Ct. team. They are good at both ends of the floor, and really good teams show how soft some of our perimeter players are. However, Ct. can't beat notre dame. They've lost to the irish three times this year--and while the odds might seem to favor ct. winning the next one, the psychological advantages rests squarely with notre dame, and that should never be discounted. I'd like to see Simmons get a little stronger--and while she has improved a lot this year, plays more under control, she's still maddeningly erratic, and third-year players should not be maddeningly erratic. Also, Massengale needs to get tougher and show more leadership. She's talented but I don't see much passion in her--sort of the same problem that Stricklin had.

The thing that bothers me about UCONN when watching them play KY is they seem tall AND quick. Maybe it was an optical illusion and KY was just short. But, they kept blocking shots and the KY players couldn't dribble around them. Usually when a team has a height advantage, they DON'T have a quickness advantage, but UCONN seemed to at least be even on quickness and seemed to have a BIG height advantage.

I don't like attributing victory to luck but, let's be honest here, play that game 9 more times and Louisville is trounced each and every additional outing.

Tennessee should be thankful that Louisville beat Baylor because it was extremely unlikely that the Lady Vols would have been able to do so. However, both Tennessee and Louisville are pretty similarly skilled. Louisville won't go off on the 3 ball like they did against Baylor, but they don't need to do so in order to beat the Lady Vols. This match is definitely a tossup.

The UT-UL game is going to be a war down low, both teams are going to crash the boards like crazy-- I think we have the advantage there. UL is probably looking at the MO tape, to see how they can replicate a 3pt barrage, and also looking at the UK tape to see how they can pressure our guards out front. I'd say it's a toss-up, 1-2 pts either way. Our Seniors need a big game tonight-- Miko and Spani. When those two are scoring, it tends to play down Simmons erratic play.

Turns out they beat us by pounding us on the boards in the first half. I am truly amazed how we rebound sometimes.

Did we just make a final four in our coaches first year?

Yes counting eggs before they hatch etc. but we know upsets like this don't happen in women's ball very often. I just don't see our ladies not making a final four at this point.

Epic FAIL!!! lol

Never count your eggs!!

Sad to see the ladies out of the tourney, but great job by a first year coach!!!
