WKU's AD Todd Stewart. I don't know anything about this MAAC school except that he is getting nothing but high marks for his hire and contract on Petrino. He is cutting edge and it looks as if he won't be at WKU long with his expertise. Had a friend tell me he is a former Vol as in he graduated here. We need fresh tactics and since our administration doesn't trust outsiders this would work once we run Hart out. W need an AD with balls to ACTUALLY get admin to do what's right.

What about hiring Bobby Petrino is cutting edge? He was basically standing at an interstate ramp with his playbook begging anybody for a job and now he's going to use WKU for a year or two as his personal career rehabilitation center.

The guy is a joke. He had a good coach that thought about staying and he wouldnt pay up to keep him. Petrino will be there 1-2 yrs.

The contract is the only thing he did right. If he leaves Petrino has to PAY THEM....

Its like the reverse buy out clause...

He is cutting edge--Yeah, looks like he got a little trim on his edge.:)

Fresh tactics--Hmmmmmmm:p

He's there to generate publicity that will attract better talent than what they've been getting and win games. What was Hart's hire based on?

Exactly! Great upgrade in profile and he got administration to back him. Now his portfolio has expanded as to what and who he can get at that school. Once he gets a better job he has Petrino and his people to call on at least for advice. Just like Jeremy Foley does Urban Meyer or ND does with Lou Holtz. It's good for him and Universities know that when they hire then in to make things better. Not like we did in hiring Hammy and then Hart as an obvious puppet. We need leadership.

Which is unheard of!! I'm just saying because it's obvious Hart doesn't have the pull and this isn't going to work out with the Butch Jones thing. You mean a connected person like Hart couldn't bring in a better coach? Just looking to the future.

Nothing like having Bobby Petrino as a character reference.

We've had worse. He doesn't commit recruiting violations, he recruits top players, he wins consistently, has good gpa with his teams, and he is a media attraction! Most coaches do great to bring 2 of those to the table.

At least we have someone with character. Petrino has non. It's not just about his personal life. His professional life and work ethics suck at best. He cannot be trusted as a coach. If he could be trusted, it would not have come down to WKU for him to find a job.

This is incorrect. After speaking with the AD at USF (and there are rumors that this was done without WKU being notified) Willie T did not give WKU an opportunity to match the USF offer. It had been reported midseason that WKU donors had agrred to fund a contract in the $1 million range for Willie T, which is not much less than he is being paid at USF. This move was about going home, raising his profile, and coaching at a football school with more fan support. There is nothing Todd Steward could have done to keep Willie T. that would have made a difference. He is a very good AD who managed to secure a bowl spot, made a very good MBB coaching hire and made what appears to be so far a very good WBB coaching hire, all in his first year.

I was really impressed with Cinncinnatti's AD, Hired 3 homerun coaches in a row. Brian Kelly, Butch Jones, an Tommy Tuberville. Tuberville was hired in less than a day after Butch left. that is one hell of a quick search.

You know what you're getting with Petrino.

You'll win in year one and win big in year two, then comes the train wreck or the midnight dash out of town. Good deal for WKU, not for UTK - JMHO TIFWIW.

GBO !

UT needs to learn a few things about contract negotiations .

Exactly. No more huge contracts with no incentives for UT please. No more guaranteeing raises for 6 wins. The contract alone was impressive for Stewart. Not to mention the hire. Now I'm not really advocating him as our AD. But someone like him, and he is proving to be getting it done. And he is a Vol graduate. He should be on our list after Hart. But UT probably will do the obvious and bring in Fulmer to run it lmao.

Like Kiffin could be trusted. Or DD could be to lead our program. You know what you're getting with Petrino, and he will WIN!! He had the stones to make a no brain decision!
