Senators Call for the Grounding of the 737 MAX

Yeah! I'm sure there are plenty of illegals that could roll right into those jobs. I don't know about you, but I want people that know how to build airplanes to be the ones bolting them together.

Boeing can afford it.
Wait..Boeing knows how to build airplanes? **** em

Yeah, fair enough. They haven't innovated for decades. They are to Airbus as NASA is to SpacEx.

Actually I think Boeing's best move would be to split into about 3-4 different companies.

fyp.

they don't innovate or build anything well.

I think the best thing would be for a bunch of the engineers to buy it as junk get rid of the MBA finance bunch and start making an airplane again rather than focus on false profits.

If they separated their airliner division I doubt it could compete with Airbus, at least for the first 10 years or so.

Interesting. Why would you say that? I don't think they could because they haven't really done that much since the 787, and that thing was a disaster because they went all oneworld and had so many parts built elsewhere. I guess maybe I am answering my own question. They need to put the engineers back in charge and move the HQ back to where they build the machines, and that would take time.

You pretty much covred it. Their management doesn't seem to know nearly as much about their own product as they do about finance, and recent results indicate they're not so great at finance. They need to fix that.

It’s happening across the entire defense aerospace industry. Decades ago senior management was grown in house and even non engineers understood the product and the in house process. That is largely not the case across the entire industry now. And HR and finance has the executive suite’s ear dictating to engineering how they will design the next product and processes. It’s absolutely moronic.

Boeing to send Pink Slips to Thousands of Workers Within Weeks as January Layoffs Loom: report

Boeing will send layoff notices to thousands of its employees within the coming weeks and a senior US official has flown to Seattle to encourage negotiations between the planemaker and the union, according to a report.

Boeing will next month send 60-day notices to thousands of workers, including employees in its commercial aviation division, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters. Those laid-off staffers will be booted out in mid-January, the source said.

The aircraft-maker — which said Friday it plans to slash 17,000 jobs and take $5 billion in charges — may send a second phase of notices in December, the source said.
