Sept 12, 2009 UCLA Game

USC @ OH St will probably be on ABC @ 8:00 EST. I'm guessing Ms St @ Auburn will be on Raycom and SC @ UGA will probably be the CBS game. So I'm guessing will be primetime game on ESPN or possibly be a 3:30 game on ABC. USC vs OH St, Tennessee vs UCLA, and OR vs Purdue are the big non-conf games that day.

The point that a noon kickoff could help UT makes sense since that would be a 9:00 am kick off for the UCLA team (west coast time). What time was the Cal game in '06? We really rocked them - i could stand a repeat.

Go Vols.

Cal game was at 5:30...though all the 2nd half passing by Cal made the game carry on for quite some time honestly.

But yeah, I like the play them at noon idea. Maryland did that to Cal last year when Cal went to College Park. The terps were up on them 28-6 by the 3rd quarter before Cal finally woke up and made a game out of it by scoring 3 TDs in the 4th...

playing at 9 AM their time can really throw some of these west coast teams off

Good point, they'll be mentally drained.

Wildberry, you must suck it up...my recomendation, Set your alarm clock to blast Rocky Top at 8AM, immediatly pour yourself a screwdriver for the shower...then have a full bloody mary bar/memosas at your disposal for 3 hours of boozin and you should be in top shape by noon....its just after the game when you come down hard!

You sir are brilliant. Spot on.

Although I prefer White Russians.

Ok folks,
You drink to get roudy. The student section is the loudest section in the stadium. Everywhere else is pretty quite. Jim Beam and Jack do things to a man that make him louder stronger and more willing to pump the crowd up while being extremly embarrising. Anything before 3 sucks for drinking as stated before. Also night games allow you to go straight from game to bars. noons and such give you a down time which kills off half the people due to passedoutness or lack of quality drinking skills. Also those that are not students have it easy going into the game. Students go through a prison entrance exam. everything is touched and violated to where there is a hard way to bring it in. I have sat with my folks and you just walk in. I stopped to get checked and a cop looked at me like i was retarded. I realize some do not like drinking but those are the kids that do orange nation. Orange nation = TERRIBLE
Another amazing post. The wisdom on this thread is truly inspirational as a Tennessee fan and a drunk.

why people get drunk before a game anyway is beyond me. i've always thought it's pretty stupid....and i'm in college....

flame me if you will, but i've never seen the sense in it.....nothing like distorting your perceptions before watching a really important game........

I wouldn't do it at UT, but I did it all season long at MTSU.

You just haven't been to a real pregame tail gate party. Drinking games for hours before and after the game makes for a great day. I understand you wanting to be fully cognitive for the game. I don't like to be smashed during the game, myself. Well, maybe sometimes last year.

Thank you for agreeing with me but dear god ..... A WHITE RUSSIAN. Dude! Its whiskey/Bourbon ONLY.

Here is a pregame saturday. depends on game time start

I dont go to bed if its a noon game. Stay up with a few packs of parliment lights and a bottle of Jim. Drink all through the day til noon then pass out until 8 then go out again.

Any game from 3 on:
Wake up around 10:30 with threee BC powders and a bottle of water. Must be quality bottle of water like Kirkland or deer park. None of that frech fairy stuff. Then jump in the shower with 3 Natty or Keystone lights. (When beer is stated its either of these 2)
Get out and head down to said tailgating spot. If TGS has food then you are set. If not then hit up something that isnt packed full of fans. Once at spot start off with a quality 5050 whiskey coke. Just to get you really going. Then as the drinks continue the percentage should change in 10%. 6040 7030 and do on. during this there should be ample amounts of Corn hole, beer pong, flip cup or anything that causes serious amounts of booze intake. Then right before kick off you get two zip lock bags and fill one up with liquor and then double bag it. Put it inbetween pants and stomach and let hang in area where cops cant touch you. If they find it you can sue them for touching your junk. Then you have a good amount for the game. ( key thing to remember, do not put ice cold booze in the bag. Will make the walk very interesting and chilly) Once game is over head to the bars.

Bars to miss. Bar Knox, Half barrel, New amsterdam

Quality bars. Hannahs until the 18 year olds show up, then cool beans until the rugby team and meat heads roll in. Then the gnome is good. OCI and Tap room are a good ending spot.

also heard the new bar "the hill" has some good upside. But it is on 12th and Forrest. A haul from the strip.

Great post, only thing is on bars to miss, why half barrel? It is a regular watering hole. I would actually rate it slightly above Mannah's. The Hill is good, but you got a point about gamedays. I would suggest going there on Friday night. They always have really good liquor specials.

On game weekends definately. Most are still ok any time. Hannah's, Cool Beans are probably not your best bets, but you would still have a good time.

Downtown is a bitch to get to. My fat ass wouldnt be walking thats for sure.

Half Barrel is ok, alot of the times I go in there the people are very up tight and about themselves. I am also a product of greek life. so I stick out like a soar thumb. Also A girl who is psyco goes there. Wants to get on me, I realize to most that sounds great but she is the type to copy my Apt. key and mailbox key and creep on me.

I am moving back to K town. I am single in my early 30s. I am a little reluctant to go back, since I have no idea what the dating scene for my age group is like. I'll be living downtown though which I heard is fun. I have not been back to live in k town since I was 18.

Thats a different story. Downtown grill and brewary is AWESOME. Straight up. Will you be downtown downtown or what?

Either way Market square will be your place to be. Kinda trendy little cafe's and bars. My lawyor has a bar down there thats pretty cool. Only been once and forgot the name. (I won the court case nuff said) Also Barley's is cool and so are the bars down by melting pot. That 4 way stop has alot of big bars and clubs. But to find your age girls the strip is not the place. If your all about some 18 year olds then Bar Knox and Hanna's is Amazing(extreme sarcasim) pickens. You could have half a face and no arms and still score.

Man if you set it up I will teach your fellow partiers the art of drinking. I have worn out my tailgating set up yern. I set up a 80 man tailgate for steeplechase ( if you do not know what steeplecahse is you are a sad individual and have not lived). All the food, booze, tables, chairs and tents were set up and brought in. All my party had to do was show up. If I was gay and lived in New york I would be a rich man for my know how to set up functions. But since I am not gay and live in K town I am a poor poor poor college student. I also am a wanderer. I know most everyone, as stated in my avatar i am literally a 6th year sophmore, and so I move around most of the pre game.

noon games just make it so hard on college kids like me. its difficult to wake up after the previous night of boozing, and its near impossible to get up and get drunk before kickoff. night games just make it all easier

dude...

just remember, you can do anything you set your mind to, don't let anyone tell you different.

we're usually in G10 watching the fog roll off the river as the sun comes up.

Hell ya. I had 18 handles 600 everclear jello shots and 40 cases. I blacked out on the drive in.

Oh and to throw this on to my list of things I also have a BBQ dinner afterwards at my house. Steeplechase is done right in my book.

Steeplechase is good Sh**t. My fraternity went there as our spring formal my last year at UTK. And you don't have to teach me to drink, I am just at your level and sounds like we could get rowdy! What fraternity are ya in?

I live downtown currently (Cherokee Lofts) and I can tell you that it is really fun. Downtown Bar and Grill as mentioned in an earlier post is awesome. You just have to find out what beer you like there. I usually get the white mule. Saphire is right next to DTB&G; its not really my kind of place (a little to metrosexual for me) but some people like it. There are probably a few more places in the Old City than you remember. There is a bar called Crown and Goose which is a British Gastropub. Barleys, Pattrick Sullivan's,Backroom BBG, and Manhattan's are still there and they are all fun. Urban Bar is also a pretty good bar in the OC. They usually have some good specials, pool table, darts. It is a little smoky in there. Anyway you can message me if you have any questions. I have a fiance but I would imagine the dating scene is pretty good. I always see a lot of girls out that aren't with guys. Best of luck? Where are you living?
