Shadow Campaign for 2020 Election

You called it a coup in OP which is non-sequitur and then you later said "Trump never had a chance". Are you not saying it was "rigged"? I'm pretty sure that's what you're saying. The author is saying legal efforts were made by various parties to oppose what they see as a Trump election misinformation campaign. You think you have a smoking gun with this article. You do not.

If a W and the RNC had rallied right-leaning businesses, media, lobbyists, action groups, party donors, etc. to control the narrative on the Gore election challenges, none of you would have a problem with it. They probably did make a concerted effort to influence perceptions. Why wouldn't they? If they didn't, then they are idiots. The truth is both sides are always trying to control the narrative.

I have a big problem with the parties trying to change election laws to their favor, but they both do it. Again, this isn't anything your party wouldn't do.
This sounds very suspicious...the PA AG is saying Trump WILL lose even before election day

Why is this article so controversial?

Considering what a joke the US election system is by many many measures both in academia and across the spectrum(i.e., electoral college, the anti-democratic Senate, gerrymandering, citizens united, etc) why would "rigging" be so shocking?

It's cute how this sort of piece from 2016 has fallen down the memory hole:

Computer scientists say they have strong evidence election was rigged against Clinton in three key states

The typical response: "oh but that's different! because in that case ___________."
Why is one an "election truther" when it's the wrong Party?

It's circumstantial at best. This is not proof of the election being rigged. It seems inappropriate for a man in his office to make a statement of partiality like this, but ultimately he's just encouraging people to vote.

Legal huh?

If changing election rules in a way the other side deems unconstitutional is rigging the election, then most elections are just one big rig fest.

This is the state law. It does not forbid mail-in ballots. It's guaranteeing a right to vote by mail for certain reasons. Hawley is misleading you. There is no in-person voting mandate.

โ€œThe Legislature shall, by general law, provide a manner in which, and the time and place at which, qualified electors who may, on the occurrence of any election, be absent from the municipality of their residence, because their duties, occupation or business require them to be elsewhere or who, on the occurrence of any election, are unable to attend at their proper polling places because of illness or physical disability or who will not attend a polling place because of the observance of a religious holiday or who cannot vote because of election day duties, in the case of a county employee, may vote, and for the return and canvass of their votes in the election district in which they respectively reside.โ€

2020 is no more of a joke than 2016 and less of one than 2001 --which is the gold standard of rigging in the 21st century.
This in turn pales in comparison to what occured during Reconstruction.

Arguing that 2020 is especially heinous requires you to actively ignore pretty much every election the country has ever had.

The only thing that's surprising here is that the Dems outmaneuvered the Republicans for the first time in a long while.

"a well-funded cabal of powerful people, ranging across industries and ideologies, working together behind the scenes to influence perceptions, change rules and laws, steer media coverage and control the flow of information. They were not rigging the election; they were fortifying it. And they believe the public needs to understand the systemโ€™s fragility in order to ensure that democracy in America endures."

The Secret History of the Shadow Campaign That Saved the 2020 Election

They aren't hiding it anymore

"They got states to change voting systems and laws and helped secure hundreds of millions in public and private funding. They fended off voter-suppression lawsuits, recruited armies of poll workers and got millions of people to vote by mail for the first time."

When one bases their beliefs on emotions and feelings, this is what happens.
