Shady Walz

I heard something that gave me some insight as to at least one possible reason Walz loses so many players through transfers.

Apparently, a reporter asked a group of Louisville players what it’s like to play for Walz. They all looked at each other, grinned, and then one of them blurted out, “Hitler. It’s like playing for Hitler.” They all laughed really hard, and Walz (who was also with the group), smiled and said so ething like, “Yeah, I’d say that’s accurate.”

Soooo, sounds like he’s a demanding coach who might be a little too tough for some players.
Sounds just like the description of Pat. It was always a dictatorship with her.

Walz is at Louisville and the men's team was only highlighted because FBI and a woman who brought in paid for strippers. And the only player who was identified was the current one "handled" . No discussion on how the other players in other years were recruited. After UT hired a men's coach who was shady I would be very careful to hire a women's coach who had innocently worked in the same environment called Louisville Athletics. the other story is how the Louisville taxpayers helped to bill the YUM facility and the profits went not to the City but to the UL athletic department.

You crucify him based on that?? Because he works at the school. That is totally unfair. Many good people work with people they don’t approve of. Unless you have proof of something he did, you are convicting him when no one can even show he committed a crime. I’m not in love with Walz, but people are being very judgmental based on rumors and innuendo.

The one thing I know for sure he did that I didn’t approve of was pull the scholarship. That I don’t like, but denouncing him based on one bad thing is just something I can’t do. If we thought this way about everyone, we wouldn’t have any friends or family.

What’s really disappointing is that some of the people yelling the loudest about his negatives, are the same people that were so upset when anyone said anything negative about Holly and her proof was out in the public on the court for everyone to see.

If you don’t want him because he is a man, that is fine. You can have that opinion. But be honest about it.

Yes, guilt by association is really stretching for reasons...

I agree we were winning that year....that was one of the only years where I thought we legitimately had a great shot to go undefeated. Even with the Hornbuckle injury and having Parker handle PG duties, we were a Final Four caliber team. We were screwed by being the top 2 seed and getting placed in the closest region, which happened to have North Carolina in it, a team that was the consensus #1 team and had a 33-1 record. Had we been placed with the weakest #1 seed (LSU or Ohio State), we probably make the Final Four.

Anyway, I don't know what happened behind the scenes with SWG, but from the little I know, the blame has to be on SWG rather than Frese/Walz. In Pat's book she says SWG transferred because she felt she couldn't play "her game" in Pat's system. In her last game, I remember Pat pulled her for a bad shot or something, then talked with her, put her back in and she made the same bad decision and was pulled for the game. That was the end of it. She was a shining example of when Pat used to say, "Tennessee isn't for everyone."

There were also rumors that SWG had very difficult parents who were very much the, "my daughter should be playing more!!" type. SWG never panned out at Maryland and also left before completing her eligibility.

Her leaving when she did was probably a blessing in disguise, as it led to the addition of Shannon Bobbitt who was vital to our 2 championships. Just wish we could've avoided that drama/injuries in 2006 and all of the injuries in 2005. If we did, we honestly would've had a great shot to win all 4 years with Parker.

Side rant over.

SWG's dad was a piece of work and had a lot to do with that. This was the guy who created his own rankings (that a lot of idiots bought into) so he could put her at number 1. Her knees would have made it impossible for her to "play her game" anywhere though it turned out.

Exactly, at the risk of sounding mean spirited the LVs loss really was Maryland's loss.

I think Jeff Walz will be the next Tennessee women's head basketball coach. I think he's the overwhelming favorite to be the next Tennessee women's basketball head coaching job among all Tennessee fans.

We, as fans feel that way but does Fulmer, who offers him the job. Does Louisville, who could put up a fight to keep him? Does Waltz, who could stay at Louisville or he could accept a job elsewhere
Also does Mrs Waltz, who can influence her husbands decision?

This sounds like something that could have been in reference to playing for Pat Summit......

Then this whole team will transfer an easy soft coach is why they all signed for Holly!

Are you always this confident or Do you know something we don’t? I’ve seen your posts. You seem like it’s a done deal.
I just get the feeling that Coach Walz will be the next Tennessee head coach and i'm confident about it unlike a lot of people who are scared to act confident. Knoxnews would put a 50 photo layout of Coach Walz if something wasn't up.

Yes. I would consider it shady. So, there's at least one.

Anymore, what was shady 10 years ago is sometimes business as usual today. As long as the next coach can develop talent, he or she can recruit however they want as long as it doesn't clearly violate the rules and put us on probation.

This isn’t the women’s game of the 80’s. You want to be competitive and recruit amongst the giants of the game, you better toe the line. The days of Pat handpicking the 4-5 best players every year are gone. These young lady’s are getting more and more exposure at younger ages than ever before, due to travel ball, camps and recruiting services. Talk about shady? If this is shady tactics, I’d love to see behind the scenes of football recruiting. The fact is, we are about to hire a mercenary to revive our program and like it or not, that’s what’s gonna happen.
GBO!!

All this shady stuff. He was suspended one game because he criticized a ref. First of all we all know how bad the refs are in WBB and second this shows me that he is standing up for his players. Second, what team beside the Lady Vols have a 100% grad rate? It should be stressed to him how important it is but you can’t hold the program hostage over it. And transfers. Every school has them now. He is no nonsense coach, some kids want to be coddled. I would rather have hard working motivated kids. Finally his shadiness. I want some proof of these vague things he’s done. To me we’re just trying to find excuses.
Please look at the final poll of the season for WBB. Of the teams in the Top Ten, which proven, successful coach of those teams do we have the best chance of getting? Very few. Of those couple, who has the best ability to take a huge and important WBB program and make them immediately a contender? To me their is only one choice. Jeff Walz
If he turns the job down or doesn't come because he wasn't offered...he will go right back to being shady...lol...

You nailed it. Anyone who does not want this coach or any male is just anti male. Its easy to tell who people like this are. They tell you when they speak or post. They are not worried about winning or losing, only about a certain agenda. At least they could be honest and just say that.

So here is me being honest. I want the best coach male or female that can get us back to the top. It has nothing to do with sex. That person I believe is Jeff Walz. So screw the rest of you.
