Senior John Fields, not senior Brian Williams, worked with the starters during Sunday night’s practice in Thompson-Boling Arena.

UT head coach Bruce Pearl didn’t confirm any potential starting lineup or rotation changes for Tuesday’s home game against Florida, but Williams said he doesn’t expect to keep his starting spot.
“It was an adjustment made because of something that happened in the (Arkansas) game that shouldn’t ever happen, with me being a senior leader,” Williams said. “I lost my focus, and that’s why I’m out right now. That’s why I’m not starting right now. But I’m fine with whatever adjustment the coaches make. That’s what they get paid for. That’s why they’re coaches, and that’s why they’re our leaders.”

Williams didn’t specify what mistake he made, calling it something “between me and (coaches),” but he said he was OK with any lineup change they made going forward.

In other Brian Williams news, he apparently wasn't pleased with Tobias' defensive effort Saturday.
Brian Williams said:
“If Tobias gives us that same intensity and effort that he’s doing on the offensive end defensively, he’d probably be the best player in the country.”

If Brian Williams could hit a free throw once every 2 months, we would have won a few close games. He needs to shut up and sit down on the end of the bench.

tough message, but legit on the Tobias D front. Not sure intensity is the entirety of the problem. Looks like he has never been asked to focus on D and isn't necessarily sure how to play it well from a positioning standpoint. Has pretty good instincts and can block some shots, but footwork and positioning just look awful.

Williams making comments on Harris' intensity is a joke. This team would be lost without Harris. Williams could go away today and we could possibly be better.

Williams is right on Harris, but I don't know if he's the person to deliver the message......or maybe he is, who knows the dynamics of this team.

he isn't the right guy, but his message is pretty well on board. Likely he heard it from someone else.

Um.....I'll only say it one more time: Yeah, Harris does need to step it up on defense.

Nobody let NYTERP34 see this thread!

funny....my point was that Harris' D; as poor as it may have been last game, is not this teams only nor biggest problem

Who the heck is Williams to call anyone out? He has been the laziest player on the team. Saying all that, Brian is probably spot-on.

I would have been ok with Williams not starting a few games ago but whatever.
Does Harris needs to step it up on D? Yes.
Is Williams the guy who should be calling him out? No.

Brian Williams calling someone out on lack of intensity is a complete joke. Tobias could play better defensively, but Williams' pathetic ball screen defense lost us the game at Arkansas. Harris is more of a leader on this team than Williams.

Agree with the message. Do not agree with who delivered it and how he delivered it.

Williams calling himself a leader is a pet peeve of mine. True leaders don't have to call out their title to the media. The best way for Williams to lead would start by his play on the court, and then any ass chewing that is warranted from there is done behind the locker room door.

Looking back, I wish all of the players in "speeding ticket gate" had gotten booted with Tyler.

I think Tatum is worse than Williams.

Tatum did nothing against Arkansas, but saying he is worse than Williams is a major stretch.

Tobias did play bad D but so did everyone else i saw multiple times Hopson just let people screen him and refused to fight through it he just stopped moving, and Williams had no right to call out anyone right now step your game up and stop crying then you can say something BW

Intensity might not be exactly the right word, but it's close. I'd say "focus" instead, maybe, but intensity works too.

To me, sometimes it looks like he just forgets to play with intention when he's off the ball. Kinda coasts. Probably just bad habits from a lifetime of being a great athlete, but it needs to change ASAP.

But his onball d is the problem. Hes solid off ball.

How's that a stretch? At least Williams can take up space. Tatum gives up more baskets than Williams, NEVER rebounds, and constantly overlooks open shooters.

Against Fla, ignore the ball and just watch Tatum for one of his rotations. He's pitiful on both ends.

Williams has NO room to talk about lack of D intensity. I understand Williams trying to be a senior leader, but when a freshman is out playing you almost every game, then he needs to shut his mouth.

No argument that Tatum is not helping this team. I just was responding on potential and ability. Tatum has much more upside than Williams, just don't know if he will ever show it.

The train has left the station on both of these guys.

Some of it is lack of effort. Other part is they were extended too far out on the court most of the time. They needed to make it tougher on those guards, the spacing was terrible.

I kept waiting for them to adjust their defense and it never happened. I don't understand that.
