We shoot .346 from the three for the season. Ariel 38 percent, Burdick 43 percent although she doesn't look for threes in a game only 28 attempts. Carter 36 percent, Reynolds about 32 percent, Dunbar in limited action 38 percent. The players that were supposed to be better are Middleton 29 percent shot about 35 in high school, Nared .188 should not have shot 32 threes this season. We should bulk up Nared a little and make her a post player.

Players can learn how to shoot the 3 over time. If memory serves me correctly, neither Maya Moore nor Tamika Catchings were prolific outside shooters in high school, but both developed their range during their collegiate careers and ended up being pretty reliable outside threats. Jaime shouldn't ignore that opportunity for improvement; with her size, she could be a serious defensive mismatch if she can shoot over smaller guards, but is still physical enough to bang with the posts. It would probably also help her pro prospects if she was a more consistent perimeter player.

Of course she needs to try and improve, but she certainly shouldn't be shooting any threes now. I think her future with the team is in the post 4 position. That is especially true next season if we don't sign anyone else. She needs strength and a little bulk to play the four position successfully. I hope she gets better shooting the three at present time she has no business taking that shot in a game.

the lvs 157 for 454 or .346

Burdick had the highest % but few shots
Middleton didn't catch and shoot which was a strength .288. Nared was less than 20%

67 for 157 for Mass and 27 for 75 for Carter who seldom shot the 1/2 of season

If you take a stick and practice your division in the red dirt that is divide 27 by 75 you will get 36% and 67 by 157 is 42.5%.

Where are all these 3 point shooters that were suppose to be able to hit behind the arc? I think someone did a bad recruiting job. They have no relaible shooters from there except Areial. This will get you about the first round of the tournament with no out side presence!

You are so wrong.

I was glad she took and made that three in tonight's game.

If you don't have a good percentage in high school, you think you would improve in college? Look at this:
Massengal 3 pt % .373, Burdick .414, Carter .359, Reynolds, .323, Nared .212, Middleton .280

There are so many good shooters in high school shooting over 40% from the 3. If you can't shoot it in high school, you won't improve in college. Bad recruiting. Our so- called 3 point shooting specialists can't shoot.....or defend or create their own shot. If it wasn't for our inside game, we wouldn't beat most teams. If we had a great outside game, our inside game would be even better. We should reach the final 8, which exceeds all expectations with this team. Unless we recruit better, we will never go beyond that in the future.

Moriah Jefferson, Tiffany Mitchell and Lindsay Allen prove otherwise. None of them were consistent three point shooters in high school, and all of them have been very good to great from beyond the arc this year.

To be a good shooter, especially from the three spot, it takes practice and more practice. A lot is involved, the feet, position of the body, position of the arms, strength and follow through. We short arm and overshoot a lot of threes. If you want to see a team shoot perfect threes, then watch UCONN, from the bigs to the smalls. It is an art that has to be practiced to become second nature. To be effective it might take the players practicing on their own, but we need a more dependable outside game. When you have a proven zone buster, it makes it easy to do a lot of things, feed the ball inside, dribble drive, shot the 10 to 15 foot jumpers, etc. Not only must the coach take responsibility, but the players also have a stake in the improvement of their skills.

Interesting proclamation which I doubt is universally true. It begs the question why practice shooting - you can either shoot or you can't, so don't bother practicing.

However, in your favor is this: I read a book by KC Jones, one of the old time 50's and 60's Boston Celtic greats and later coach of the Celtics in the 80's. In the NBA he was known as a defensive specialist who didn't shoot much. In the book, Jones said in college at the University of San Francisco he was a very good shooter until one day in practice he "forgot" how to shoot and could never get the skill back. So he concentrated on defense from then on.

So in Jones' case, practicing apparently didn't help him recover his lost skill.

Nared could be a Burdick one day...Maybe. I think she and all of this year's recruiting class was way, way over-rated.

Div II? Probably right for 1 or 2 of them

Lets get real and stop the crazy talk Nared Div II or could be a Burdick one day. I don`t think so i think Nared will turn out to be a very good player next year. The problem now with her is that she has lost confidence in herself. And that`s why the poor play. But what i did like is she hit that big 3 and looked more comfortable. But what i don`t like is Holly let`s the players off the hook to easy when the play poorly or make silly turnovers. I think the team would play much better if she gets in there face to get her point across. Look at Geno, muffet mcgraw, brenda frese, even dawn staley. They get in there players face to let them know what they think about there performance Pat did it to here players.

Have you ever been to a live game? I've seen Holly get in player's faces a plethora of times. Holly just doesn't do anything outlandish things on the sideline or make her face look like a sour grape 24/7 doesn't mean she's not getting in her players faces. There isn't a 24/7 coaches cam on the sideline and during most timeouts, TV wise, you see commercials instead of the huddle where you'd see Holly slamming her cast into her clipboard scolding Ariel, or scolding Cierra, or scolding Graves.

Ok whatever i`m pretty sure not many believe that. But it`s all good. :)

She was no shrinking violet at the game vs Florida this year. Of course with the way UT was playing till late in the game, it's a wonder she didn't have a stroke.
