Should 24 arrests warrant more scrutiny for Florida football? (latimesblogs)

I am fine with UF recruiting thugs, in general. Reality is that if you want to win, you have to take some chances. I am fine with a minimal pot possession arrest or even the goofy getting the car out of the impound lot type of scenario.

I am not fine with keeping them on if they engage in any sort of criminal activity involving a firearm. Period.

What about keg throwing?

Very reasonable and fair.

I see this the same way I see the secondary violations stuff at UT. The number of occurrences does not paint the picture. The occurrences themselves is what matters. A fog machine is not a big deal, and neither is a misdemeanor charge or less. I don't even think 24 over 4 years is that big of a number, considering the number of athletes we're talking about and the age group.

I dont put meaningless secondary violations, that every program in the country commits on a regular basis...anywhere in the same breath as players being arrested. Regardless of what the arrest is for, it casts a bad light on your school and program. CUM has gotten away with it for the most part because he has been so successful on the field. it is being brought up now simply because 1) its the off season and writers want something to bitch about and 2) UF is the top dog and people are looking for anything bad they can find to hammer on. UT had its fair share of arrests, and they were a direct result of the lack of control the previous staff had over its players. I dont think that ill be a problem at UT as long as Kiffin and Co. are around.
