He's quick but not really fast so I doubt he'll ever play LB in the NFL. But he has such natural football instincts...he could be a killed DE on the pass rush.

Just an off season thought...

A.J. should get some work at running the stadium stairs! Drinking, underage people drinking, smell of marijuana at the scene, etc.etc.

He should have known better!!!!!!!!!!!

If he stays healthy and stays out of trouble, he will be in the NFL. He is too slow to play as a starter, just like Herman Lathers was, but he will make a teams special teams roster. That might give him 2 or 3 seasons in the NFL.

When AJ has faster players around him in the backfield and a good pass rush upfront, he will not look that slow!

No. We'll more explosive guys coming off the edge this year albeit they're young.... Vereen and a couple freshmen. He helps us best at mlb.

I'm really impressed at our new LB recruits and the return of Maggitt...but LB is probably the best place for AJ and Maggitt to go.

We have four good recruits plus Vereen who will get better with experience and S&C. Plus having great LBs and Secondary will ease their transition to instant starters.

I'm really excited about the defense next year. I haven't been this pumped on D since NCST game/Wilcox.

he needs to run with a weighted vest, pull a sled or parachute every day till the season starts..

He's a 2-down LB being forced to play 3 downs because we don't have anyone else to do it right now. Hopefully, Jancek will find a way to get him some rest on third and long, so he doesn't keep getting exposed in the passing game.

He will be a rush linebacker for a 3-4 team if he plays in the NFL...it is what best suits his talents. I would assume that he would be used in that role this next year at UT on 3rd downs with the linebackers that we will have.....

No speed y'all say? He chased every rb sec had and threw them out of bounds. He has hit every rb Alabama has had in the mouth he's fast but not superman. The poor guy ays every down and gets tired. He will be a starter in nfl and probably a pro bowler. He's a natural lb. our defense as a whole has been slow since kiffin. When some of our freshman hit the field to help him you will see his speed again. Dude is a man child and y'all clowning on him

Johnson is better than people give him credit for but let's not be ridiculous. He is a liability in coverage right now and would be lucky to get drafted period unless he improves there.

The new substitution rules are PERFECT for him. Anything longer than say 3rd and 4 send him to the bench and play JRM and another LB. This will keep him fresh later in games too, although I'm not sure conditioning is going to be much of an issue by the time CBJ gets done.

I thought AJ's lateral pursuit and tackling were good this year. I imagine when he has better talent around him this won't be an issue.

. Liabiliy? All sec all American. 109 tackles. Plays EVERY down defensively. Yea I guess your right. He can't cover the fastest guy on fla or the fastest guy on bama but he is far from a liability. Nobody on our damn team in the past ten years at linebacker could cover half of those guys. He's a stud and when he gets 100 plus tackles again this year he will be top 20 pick
