Should Fulmer be fired?

Should coach Fulmer be fired. (Do not take into effect his contract buyout)

I wish more people would use your method for venting frustrations.  People that run their mouth in the stands are never as funny or as smart as they think they are.

I used to get mad and say a few things here or there, but now I just don't say anything. In fact, I didn't say anything until about an hour after the game.

I'm the same way. There's no point in commenting on something that everybody just saw with their own two eyes.

Although at one point late in the SC game I did find myself asking Jesus to let somebody make a catch.

The first words out of my mouth when I did say something? This is the worst day of my life. LOL

Of course, I was only kidding...well, sort of.

Definatley NOT! Now if next season is another non-winning/bowl season then it might be time for a change. Look what happened in Happy Valley. They have been wanting JoPa out for the past several years because of thier play and now Penn State football is back and as good as ever.

joe pa took the team from scratch and turned them into a powerhouse. fulmer took manning and got some breaks in 1998 and he is still riding that now. if floridas kicker didnt miss, fulmer may be gone, if our kicker missed agaisnt sarycuse, fulmer may be gone, if the razorback qb didnt miss, fulmer may be gone. fulmer ddint build the team and he inst joe pa.

how, all i said is fulmer had a great run with manning and in 1998. after that it was a steady decline.

i said to the person who compared the situation with paterno, that paterno took a terrible team and consistently went one loss and 2 loss. the penn state faithful didnt have his head becaseu he did everything for his program up until about 2000. they wernet going to fire him then.

i dont htink every coach would have been good in 96 and 97 wiht manning. i dont think every coach would go unbeaten in 1998. im just stating a fact that the championship bought him extra time.

i didnt vote yes in the poll either.

i don't know GAVOL, i have to agree with tvolsfan. if fulmer doesn't win it all in 98 i think he gets terminated this year. he had alot of luck in 98. he won it and thats that. now we have to look forward if he doesn't turn it around next year i think he has to step down, and i think he will.

I just think it's unfair to miinimize the success that Fulmer had in the past and attribute it all to luck and talent.

like i said, you have to use your talent right and you almost never go unbeten with out some luck. what i was saying is if they lose that championship, fulmer may not be here. if you remove anyone of paterno's seasons, he would likely still be the proud head coach.

I see what you are saying, but I still don't know that he wouldn't get another year or two anyway.

...and I'm not saying that he doesn't deserve criticism, just that it doesn't do any good to try and revise the success that he had in the past. Yes, there was luck involved in '98, but that was also the same year that we lost Jamal Lewis to a knee injury and had to go the rest of the way with freshmen tailbacks.

now now GAVOL you act like henry and stephens were scrubs. i think henry made that 98 team along with the D.

:D I know, it wasn't as if we were trotting out 150 lb freshmen to run the ball. Just saying that we did have some adversity that we had to deal with. There's no doubt that the planets have to align in order to go undefeated.

good point.

but still to win the championship you always need to overcome something and yes fulmer did good with that. i just dont think he will ever be as good as joe pa was.

but joe pa at his prime was likely one of the best ever.

lets hope fulmer just cracks down on discipliene or something becasue we all know hes not leaving.

What are you smoking? Joepa has been HC at Penn State since 1966. Except for 2002 he hasn't won more than 5 games in the past 5 seasons.

You would have been screaming for his head for the last two years.

Fire fulmer over one bad season? It's not Fulmer.. It's the OC, need a new offensive line coach and receivers coach. Fulmer can only do so much.

why should fulmer be fire im chokin this season up to offencive mistakes most of which where not even because of play calling. most of our loses this year could have been wins and it shows how bout us fubling inside the five that definatly cost us the game there and we have made many other mistakes wheater it be not establishing a passing game defantly to many droped balls this year to many over thrown or poorly thrown ball and other misshaps. I believe fulmer can pull us out of this with a new OC and a good QB and keep john chavis doin what hes doin cuase our defence is looking good

Because he has lost the respect and control of the team. Coach Fulmer looked defeated, scared, embarrased, confused, shell-shocked, and weak in his teleconference after the game Saturday. This is not the man to turn the program around. The Fulmer era is over. All era come to an end and this one has reached its end. Hiring Cutcliff will not be enough.

Hell no, thats nuts. One bad season in all these years. How quickly you all forget!

Just because all the other SEC teams got new coaches doesn't justify that we should get a new coach. I believe the dean of coaches in the SEC and the coach with the longest tenure in the SEC should have a little more respect than what is given him. One losing season and you just throw all that away. I bet just about every other team in the SEC is praying that TENNESSEE will fire CPF. You can run all the fire CPF threads you want to but, it's not going to get him fired this year, now if we have another losing season next year it will be a different story.

I agree that CPF did not look like himself. I think he has to do some major over-hauling of parts of his program starting with himself and how he manages the team. I don't see the two-way respect between him and the players. I think he has tried to be a "players' coach" and it appears to have been ineffective for some time now starting several years back.
