Should Heup Ask Players to Leave, if Drama?

The coach may put them in zone coverages but the player decides to get beat constantly, not locate the ball in the air, and take bad angles
Decides to get beat? Are you saying they didn’t give all? I think they got out played. I also think our coaches didn’t react very well to them being out played, aka our coaches. It’s my opinion when you are getting out played it’s necessary to gamble more. Blitz more, either run or pass blitz, send heat.

Dave Hooker claims to know for sure that Banks had an altercation over NIL $, and further that his suspension from the game upset other D players enough that they wouldnt implement T Banks game plan.
If that’s the case then they need to grow the heck up.. you can’t just disregard people in authority in the real world when you don’t like their decisions lol (although I had some younger coworkers who seemed to think that was exactly how the world works) lol who knows

If that's the case, I would say the defense made its point. You're about to find out if it's true and if so, whether it has been fixed. If Vandy goes for 500 yds, the D has quit to make a point. So what are you going to do if that's the case (and please no stupid answers like kick them off the team)?

Lots of rumors swirling, yes they are rumors. Not suggesting there's beef or drama going on.

However, if there has been tension or drama or fights amongst players, there COULD be reason to be concerned.

I have no idea, but if they have a situation where this player is taking that players side or got their back, it certainly looked like the defensive players literally packed it in. You almost can't try to play as poorly as they did.

I certainly hope this isn't the case. But, these are college aged kids and any distraction or issues can completely disrupt focus, cohesiveness and unity(harmony).

Do you remember being that age?

If, if, something like this is going on, should Heup ask players to leave?
This is when Heupel needs to earn his check. He’s proven his offensive acumen, but a head coach has to do much more. This rift, or whatever it is, and how he deals with it, going to go along way in determining his future as a head coach.

IF that is the case, kicking them off the team is not a stupid answer. I'd say not kicking them off the team is the dumber of the two options.

The fix was in by the defensive players and now they need to get caught!! They made out like bandits!!Think about it, nobody plays this bad!!

If this is true? It's a damn wise move on my part to enjoy my football season between April and September. I don't care how good they are, if they are throwing games? They just need to get the Hell out right now.

‘I’m’ not going to do anything 😂 Thank God 😂 (came back to edit after I thought about it: no, wouldn’t kick guys off the team, but would really bring home to them that need to go forward as a team, meaning everyone, and make the best of the time they have left, leave it all out there, don’t squander it)

Hopefully that’s just social media 💩. But IF (and I stress IF) true, then Banks and any player supporting a mutiny should be summarily dismissed immediately from the program. No quarter. IF true, it basically cost us a shot at a title and simply cannot be tolerated.

If this is true about the D not following the game plan purposely, we will know if it’s true if you see the same defensive starters on Saturday because there’s no way in the world would you put them back on that field, especially to pull that same stunt. If I see the same starters then I know that wasn’t true.

This is just the beginning of the NIL drama in college football.
I am going to predict that it will elicit criminal responses across the country in every program where top ranking NIL players breed resentment inside the locker room.

I would take it a step further. Sooner or later, you're gonna see some end of the bench guy barely hanging on outright robbing a bonus baby. Face it, these guys are not going to be very discreet with their cash. Not a matter of if, but when.

Like the thread I started if the coaches saw they were pulling the bs they should have wholesale tried and made changes

Not alot he can do right now without stirring up a media hornets nest that will just make the situation worse. After the regular season, you are probably going to read about defensive players sitting the bowl game out and even more hitting the transfer portal.

Stop and think for a minute about two things.

1) We’ve all seen Bank’s violent physicality in full pads on the field body slamming dudes, so if there was any physical altercation between he and Hooker in the locker room don’t you think Hooker would have been showing some signs of getting roughed up?
2) You don’t merely keep a guy at home for throwing down with your star QB, you remove him and pack up his locker. Coach is saying he expects Banks to be ready against Vandy so he’s obviously still with the team. That sure leans towards nothing physical having occurred between the two guys.

IF this were to be true, that’s on T Banks. At the first sign of this he should have called a time out, chewed and set azz’s on the bench, then went with walkon’s if he had to. They couldn’t have done any worse……

I disagree about the defense packing it in. Getting the stop in 3rd down is difficult when the coach says drop back into coverage rather than getting after their QB with extra help..
OF COURSE THEY LAID DOWN!!! South Carolina couldn’t score 63 points on a winless high school team!!.

Did you know that the SC players are on scholarships the same as the Vols players and that some of their players were actually highly sought after recruits coming out of high school?

Sport agents getting involved will destroy what is left of college football. ESPN,high paid ten million dollar a year coaches and now high paid players , what’s left for the fan? High ticket prices and apathetic low or no paid NIL players throwing games because their butt hurt! Thanks NCAA for destroying what was once a great sport to follow.

Hooker got his 2 big NIL deals right before the GA game.

I don’t care what any of the talking heads say about team chemistry but NIL deals in the middle of the season before big games is a bad idea.

There most certainly will be attitudes of resentment emerge from certain players.

Oh sure guys, kick them off the team. What a PR and recruiting disaster that would be, not to mention the impossibility of reconstituting the defense next year. It would be equivalent to the Marshall University plane crash. Years to recover. And that's if you can ever convince defensive recruits that they will be treated equitably here.

Personally, if the story is accurate, I think they made an excellent point. You can score 50 points a game, but you lose when your defense gives up 60.

I would suggest you try to resolve the inequities of the way UT is working the NIL system, otherwise this problem will pop up again.

In the meantime, the proof will be the Vandy game.
