Should I take my son to the KY game?

Yes you absolutely should. Last week, Thanks to the generousity of a fellow Volnation member, I was able to take my son for the first time and we had a blast! He is 12 and was starting to second guess being a UT fan. A lot the kids he goes to school with have started wearing bama, fl gear. Makes me sick. He had so much fun last week that he begged to go back this week. I couldnt go so his grandmother got tickets and they went, He loved it again and we are already planning to go to KY. I forgot how much fun it was to go! Thanks Dr. Bowling for giving us a great day!:)

The one good thing about Dooley is that tickets are cheap. I have taken my fanily to the last 2 games for free. I bet you will be able to get lower level for less than $20.00 a pair. If I get tickets gave to me I will PM you and give you a pair.
That would be awesome!

And for the guy that said I needed fatherhood advice...whatever dude...

He's been crushed with UT losing this season...every Saturday he's sad but:
- if there is a team that for worse at a much larger scale than us year over year, that's Kentucky
- if they beat Vandy, they will be fighting for a bowl game, though last year that didn't matter
- knowing Dooley is gone for sure, may motivate these guys to play well and get some revenge on him

So should I risk it and take him hoping we win and he is once again a happy little Vol fan?
Can I get two lower level tickets for $50 lol?
-

yes, take him in...

Why not? Heck, my first game back in 1968 was a Kentucky game with my dad. Different era and time, that's for sure.

You can pick the kick-off time for that price.

Now is the best time to take him...let him have pride in being there to see Tenn at the worst point it will be so that he can enjoy it even more when the volunteers start winning again.

I wish I would have went to more South Carolina Gamecocks games with my dad when I was young and trust me when I say we were far from good for a damn long time...but I had favorite players on those bad teams...I still remember cheering and celebrating touchdowns and watching the team run onto the field after 2001 and just all those things that go along with being a fan of a college football team...

Take him and enjoy yourselves and that opportunity

By all means take your son to the game.. be proud and stand tall for being a VOLS fan... have a fantastic time!!!!

My gosh I've never seen so much negativity on any other Tennessee BB than this one.. come on people, be a true VOLS fan.. none of us like what has happened and to be at the bottom of the barrel... but hell, I SAY IT'S GREAT TO BE A TENNESSEE VOL... none of all these complaints will change a darn thing but cause posters to move to other boards..nickel to a dime most of the complainers don't go to all the home games but choose to be armchair coaches..... get real, this too shall pass... we drive from Woodstock, GA to every home game.. we are always there to support and don't complain... we have thousands on dollars invested into the athletic department and will proudly continue to be faithful donors and support our team!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hallelujah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GO VOLS..
GO BIG ORANGE..

I'd suggest waiting OP.

Maybe take him to one of the basketball games or wait for the opening football game of next season with our new head coach. It would be pretty cool to say, "I remember going to Coach ______ first game."

Especially if it's his first game. You don't want his first game to be one of Dooley's.

I took my 7 year old to Johnny Major's last game. Got pictures of Johnny doing the Vol walk. After the game, Johnny exited the field at the end of the stadium where we were sitting. Have vivid memories of the Coach raising his hand with his index finger extended. Glad I went.

Definitely! Took my wife and 4 year old son to the Mizzou game. I noticed during the 3rd quarter he was getting a little tired/antsy. Left at the beginning of the 4th, got home with 6 minutes left in the game.

Honestly, I didn't know how he would do, but he loved every second of it.

Absolutely bring him. I sold 2 UD tkts to the Mo game for $20. Had extras. Youll get some pretty cheap.

Take him. Even if we lose it's a teaching opportunity to still stick with something even when things are going bad.

He may have learned that last Tuesday -- seriously though - I will be sad to see the season end -- then 9 months to go. Go to the game !!!

The best memories are ones you share with your kids....Win or lose make it a special day....You will probably be able to get tickets for $5.00 - $10.00 a piece from scalpers.

UTAD will be paying fans to show up if we lose to Vandy! All part of the new UT stimulus program.

Another little tid bit I'll add. My oldest son's first game was Peyton's freshman year against Alabama. That loss made him cry himself to sleep on the way home, however later on he was so glad he got to see Peyton play as a freshman almost upsetting the tide that night. After that game we ran into Doug Dickey walking away after the game. He looked as sad as my son, but took a moment to talk to us. It doesn't take wins to make it worth it. Enjoy the little ones because they're growing up fast. It's all over before you know it.
