The casual fan wants to see Yanks/Sox, but they also want to see Cubs/Sox, Yanks/Mets, Angles/Dodgers. Those matchups are fun to watch, offer bragging rights, and are cash cows.

I bet the Mets really appreciate their two IL road trips being 10 miles away (Yankee Stadium) and to Texas, whereas the Braves have to go to LA and Seattle, the Marlins have to go to Oakland, Texas, and St. Pete, and the Phillies have to go to Seattle and Toronto.

Its an unbalanced setup, the only way to execute it properly would be to have each division play another division, and get rid of the annual "rivalries". That way each team plays the same # of games against the same opponents as their division mates.

Even then, not sure I like it at all.

The difference between New York-Texas and Georgia-California is 500 miles, or about an hour and a half on a plane. I think they manage.

As I recall, it was set up like that for a couple years. I know there were a few times where the Braves and Sox played, the Mets and Yankees played, the Marlins and Rays played, the Nats and Orioles played, and the Phillies and Jays played (the only one that didn't make obvious sense)

It should be changed but not done away with. And you cut cut up to 6 teams and I would be happy.

And get rid of the DH while we're at it.

Inter-league games cheapen the All Star Game and the World Series.

Plus, as an American League fan, why would I want to watch pitchers bat?

It should be ended ASAP.

Because this isn't softball?

This. They're paid millions to pitch not step in the hatter's box.

Seeing as I'm tired of studying this weekend, I may as well join in some debate.

As far as the DH, I'm okay with it. I feel like the skill set of pitchers is so different that it seems silly to have the pitchers bat. To be honest, I wouldn't even have a problem if it was just an 8 man lineup.

I know I'll get killed for this, but as far as the season goes, I honestly think the best way for baseball to determine a champion would be EPL style. No divisions and separate leagues. Just a home and away series with every other team in the league. It seems boring, so I certainly understand if everyone hates the idea, but it just seems like a better way to determine the best team over the course of the season than having a playoff system in a sport with so many runs/slumps/etc.

I enjoy interleague play, but I do think the "natural rivalries" create problems in fairness to scheduling. The wild card is just that, a wild card, so if you do away with the "natural rivalries" (Mets-Yankees, Nats-Orioles, Cards-Royals, A's-Giants, etc) and set it up so that each team in the division plays the same amount games against the other teams, I'd be fine.

I also think it's funny how people get so up in arms about the DH. I love baseball, there's no sport I'd rather watch. Does adding a DH make a difference offensively? Absolutely. Does it ruin the game by not letting pitchers hit? No, not at all really, it just takes the "automatic out" away. This just brings different strategies into the game. It's an almost 40 year old rule, so most here don't even remember the AL not having it.

Why does it matter? I love getting to see Subway/Freeway/etc. Series. Just cause your Braves got smoked doesn't mean they should cancel it. With 162 games, why must teams be completely separated? No other league does that.

Why would you assume that cause his team got beat, that that's why he doesn't like it? Braves usually do decent in interleague play.

Mere hours after his team got smoked in the opener of Interleague Play he starts a thread about getting rid of Interleague Play and offers no reason for why he feels that way. On this board, that mentality isn't a stretch at all.

Maybe you'd try asking why I felt that way instead of assuming, y'know?

Unnecessary. If you don't want people to make an assumption, don't make a thread about a major change, give your choice, and offer no opinion for why you feel that way.

And for the record, I can't believe how much offense you're taking to that. It was meant as a joke. The insane backlash makes me think I was slightly more correct than you'd like me to believe.
