Run it till the wheels fall off. By then the D is wore down and you can bomb them through the air.

Martin was much more moblie than Ainge.

what that has to do with anything, i dunno, but i thought i'd point it out.

The point is, referring to Martin to Price as the model for throwing it all over the place isn't exactly correct. I don't have the stats in front of me, but I'd bet that 1998 was one of the bottom 2 or 3 years in passing yardage for us in the 90s.

I like throwing the ball around as much as anybody else, but I will go out on a limb and say that if Tennessee can rush for 220 yards or so in every game, I really, really like our chances.

I think it depends on who you play. Against Florida, you want to keep control of the ball as much as possible, cut down on the number of possessions each team has. With LSU, I say you open it up.

Strange comment! How can you say 500+yds isn't much offense?

Sure, the balance was a bit lop-sided toward the passing game but I'll take 500+yds every game especially against Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and Auburn in the SEC Championship Game.

I'll be happy to let each of those teams have 65 yds rushing just like we did the oh-so-powerful PAC-10 "loose in the slippers" boys from CAL.

GO VOLS, POUND THE ROCK AND RUN TO VICTORY

The point is, even in 98, we had right about the same yardage rushing as passing... In our conference where the defenses are so stout, you don't go pass happy to pass effectively. Check the stats... don't forget to look at Spurrier's best squads at UF. They ran the ball A LOT.

i reckon yall got a good point, but 98 teams were scared of peerless so by having a pass attack although only racking up 3000 yds it did help in the past coupke years we havent had that threat for teams they could read us like a book RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN........but balance is key.....so sorry for stupid comment....just wondering

:good!: Not stupid... brought on some good conversation, otherwise it wouldn't have so many pages. :)
