UP SIDE: The kid can Run like a RoadRunner and can Excelerate off tackles and in the Open Field like 1 2 3 easily and can run the 40 In 4.5 secs, also has a
Vertical Of 30 inches and is an Outstanding Return Man(Maybe the Best in Knoxville on Returns).

DOWNSIDE: His Ht is 5'7 and some have considered him to be too Small and Light to play Division 1 Football(Stanford has offered Him)

Not at this point, but if Devrin has the kind of season I think he's going to have, he may force them to.

For an undersized guy a 4.5 40 and 30 inch vertical is not that impressive especially for a small guy. Less arse means less weight to lift from the ground. Vertical and long jump are measures of explosiveness. A good vert for a RB would be in the high 30's at least. Low 40's would be impressive.

UT can always use an awesome return man. We've been lacking one for a while now...

All true. Them long-jumpers are fast-twitch.

I don't know, that Trindon Holliday kid on LSU was smaller than that wasn't he?

Maybe I'm just interpreting this wrong but you are saying he may not be able to play in D-1 because he is undersized but Trindon Holliday saw pretty decent playing time didn't he?

SOME have said that but i WOULD OFFER him in a heartbeat if i had the choice but thats why im not a Coach.
which ever school he goes too then hes gonna be the next Trindon Holliday

Trindon Holliday also ran a sub 4.3 40 at the combine, iirc

Warrick Dunn was only 5'7", Darren Sproles is only 5'6", Ray Rice is 5'8"....so small players can succeed at the college level.....I see no reason why we shouldn't offer him, at worst he can help the return game.

I don't think Devrin is in the same zip code 'speed wise' as Trindon.. Trindon has OLYMPIC speed, he makes FAST people look slow.. Not saying we should or shouldn't offer Devrin just that comparison may not be a good one..

Apples and Oranges with Rice and Sproles. Both are built like bowling balls, not like Trindon Hollidays.

Young Warrick Dunn might be a reasonable comparison, but if memory serves, he could absolutely fly while at FSU. If Young runs a 4.5, he'll get killed here, especially considering someone Chris Walker or Herman Lathers' size is in that range!

Come on guys, take the blinders off. I know he's a local kid and everyone wants to see a hometown boy play, but his numbers aren't that impressive. Especailly when compared to other RBs in the country, and the level of competition that he plays against isn't all that great.. He doesn't have the size or speed to play in the SEC as a RB. Ask yourself this, if he wasn't in Knoxville would any of you know who he was??
