Got a bad bracket because the refs screwed us in the SEC T so the lizards got a favorable bracket and cruised to the final 4 to face an auburn team that we handled and a houston team that beat us only because we came out flat after an emotional big win against the mild cats.

If we didn't get screwed by the refs in the SECT we would've won easily and had the 1 seed and that soft bracket. We wouldve had a better showing in the finals against Houston than we did in the elite 8 since we wouldn't have been drained from an emotional big win and came out sharp

We blew the lizards out by 20 points and were the better team

Lmao, they beat our azz by 30 and beat us in SECT. Put the bottle/crack pipe down.

At best, Tennessee was a Final Four team. Would’ve taken our best effort to beat Houston. We got Tennessee’s worst effort instead.

But in reality, this was an Elite 8 team. Which is nothing to be ashamed of.

Yeah...........for sake of sanity, I've moved on to recruiting (both b-ball/football) and spring practice. Life is too short. I'll also cheer on the boys when World Series rolls around.

I think you have the unpopular opinion. This was a great UT team. I thought they had a great year and I enjoyed the season very much. There is a lot to celebrate with this team. I never expected Florida to win it, but I don't think we got screwed on seed. I thought we were where we should be. We finished in the elite 8 and lost to the team that on another night could have cut down the nets. They were a legit team and beat us. Celebrate all the wins we were able to enjoy.

To be the best, you gotta beat the best. You have to play great ball EVERY game to cut the nets, not complain about seeding. C'mon.

IMO, both KenPom and the final AP have us right where we should be based on the body of work, #5.

I would love to have made the Final 4 and would REALLY have loved a NC but I’m not going to complain about having the #5 team in the nation after losing everything we lost (especially DK) from the prior year.

Coaches' Poll had us at #5 too, I think. Consensus top 5 team is excellent work for this shorthanded team

As others have said, we ended up where we should have, among the best teams in the country but a step below those in the Final Four. In many ways, this group overachieved when you consider the lack of depth and scoring in the frontcourt and not getting the performance we were hoping for from D-Stone, although he provided a huge boost in the Kentucky win.

Basing your entire perception of a season on the final result also defeats one of the joys of following the sport, which is remembering some of the great wins and remarkable moments of the season. To me, this year's team will always be about the Kentucky E8 win, the Shack miracle shot, ZZ's amazing season, Gainey's last second shot at Illinois, and Chaz' smile that lit the place up when he had it going.

We all knew there was a chance we’d have a no-show game shooting the ball, which you can’t have in the tourney past round 1 if you want to go all the way. It came late in the tourney.

In no way did we “deserve” to make it farther.

If “ifs and buts” were candy and nuts…..

Either no clue about basketball or a troll. Take your pick.

That's a weak take. It's one that UT haters will hang their hats on to ridicule our fans.

Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda is no way to go through life, son.
Yep. We had opportunities to seal the deal and grab that #1 seed. Didn't get it done and it cost us. Just like football. There's a stinker or two that always seems to come back to bite us in the keester. That's on us.

IMO winning the NCAA tourney is the toughest challenge in college team sports. Win 6 games in a row with each game getting a better opponent. No off days allowed or you go home. Very hard to do in team sports. Vols elite 8 finish is a very respectable accomplishment.
