SI: The Vols are easily the most disappointing team in the country thus far.

Shocker. God forbid we overachieve at anything. Ever.

Cuonzo isn't motivated to motivate IMO. Bruce knew how to get a team to rise to the occasion more times than not. Just disappointed he can't find away to get the most out of these players every night. Surely they have more in them than what we are seeing every game.

The team reflects the luke-warm personality of the coach. They are consistently inconsistent. They play to the level of the competition almost every night out. Sometimes the results are suprisingly good (Virginia, Xavier in the battle of Atlantis, Wake, LSU on the road); sometimes the results are suprisingly on bad (Xavier to open the season, NC State, UTEP, aTm second-half collapse).

This will continue all season in conference play, so get ready for the roller coaster ride. Lots of highs and lows that, on balance, will once again not be good enough to get into the NCAA tournament.

Hope I'm wrong...

Talk about a misleading thread title. I'm all for criticism of CCM when it's deserved, but you're thread title is overly sensationalized with regard to the actual content of that article.

You don't have to create reasons for people to not like CCM. He's doing a fine job on his own.

That was a quote from the article. I'm not sure how it's not in regard to the actual content.

I literally copied and pasted it.

The Vols are the most disappointing team in the nation. Period. Can they still save the season and make the tourney? Absolutely. But thus far, we are underperforming like a Fulmer team playing the great football champions of Wyoming.

What are you talking about? It's a direct quote from the article. Every one is going to spin it more towards their own feelings on a subject....Just look at all of BTO's articles and things he posts.

None of those teams are more talented than us. None of those victories should have been "surprisingly good."

The sad truth is that the only reason we were surprised by those results, is because those teams had just enough talent that we were all expecting the Vols to choke.

My apologies. I read the article THOROUGHLY three times and never saw that quote. After your response, I wondered how in the world I missed it.

It turns out, that in the mobile version of the article, it leaves out the entire section of bulleted info under the heading "Other Hoops Notes", and skips directly to the discussion about his book. I didn't realize that until I used my desktop to read the non-mobile version.

Honest mistake. Like I said, I literally read it three times before, because I thought I was just missing it. As it turns out though, it simply wasn't there on the mobile version. Not sure why it was omitted on mobile, but you can see why I was miffed at your comment.

Again, my apologies.

Same thing happened to me.

I think people forget we are winning 20 games a year still. If we become dissatisfied with that and fire Martin, it could get worse. Look at virginia tech under Seth Greenberg. Consistently won 20 games then fired him, won 13. Just be careful what we wish for.

It would be different if we were making the tournament, but were not. There's no point in keeping him around to win 20 games and not making the tournament

I had rather drop off some games than stick with and accept mediocre.
