SI: The Vols are easily the most disappointing team in the country thus far.

I had rather drop off some games than stick with and accept mediocre.

So you wanna be worse? Huh? 20 wins in a major conference should get you into the tournament. I think the SEC dominance in football hurts the league in basketball because people around the country hate the SEC so much.

DA we are not in a major conference in basketball, we are not in the top five. The SEC is weak as hell and has been the last three years.

DA? Really? Ha the SEC is a major conference in general. That's what I'm referring to. Everyone in the country can name you the SEC schools. That's enough name recognition that the selection committee should want to have as many schools in from the SEC as possible. SEC fans travel better than 90% of the other schools fans. That means more money, which is what the NCAA cares about.

I guess thats the reason we are ranked 7th in rpi. and have been sending three teams to the tourney.

Never said the SEC is an elite ball school, I just think the NCAA should favor sec bubble schools because of money.

don't watch a lot of bball until down the stretch. Whats the main problem with the team?

Inconsistency. Martin is really hit or miss with his game plans. We look like a sweet 16 team one night, then an NIT the next. The pieces are there for a very successful season, and it will be if Martin can consistently do the right things in-game. If we remain inconsistent, it will be an uphill battle and another NIT bid.

Oh, and tonight I learned that black people can't coach, so there's that.

We have a Missouri Valley coach.

I'd be okay with a Missouri Valley coach if he actually made the tourney before coming here. At least he would have proven something. However, we got another Buzz Peterson, who never made the tourney in a week conference.

Thanks for playing the race card. That says a lot about you. When you can't get your way, cry foul. lmao
There are some posters on the board that would care less if the coach were bright green as long as he could win.
I have always respected a number of posters on this board even though I don't always agree with them because they try to keep things in perspective. Unfortunately you are not one of those.

Wow...you missed the boat on that one.

It would be different if we were making the tournament, but were not. There's no point in keeping him around to win 20 games and not making the tournament

We fired Don DeVoe the same year he made the NCAA tourney and Jerry Green after he made his fourth consecutive NCAA tourney. A school and program with our resources and facilities should expect nothing less than making the NCAA tourney every single year.

There is a chance we still get in THE tourney. I'm guessing about a 30% chance currently. I don't think the odds are good enough to bet the house on!!

I hope that last sentence was dripping with sarcasm. Hard to tell sometimes, at least for me.

None of those teams are more talented than us. None of those victories should have been "surprisingly good."

The sad truth is that the only reason we were surprised by those results, is because those teams had just enough talent that we were all expecting the Vols to choke.

To me those games were "surprisingly good" so far as outcome was concerned, because we took care of our business in emphatic fashion.
