Petrino getting plenty of support from Ark fans - Yahoo! Sports

Is this what the world has come to? People want to "Save their coach". This man is the biggest POS I have had the dishonor to read about and hear about. And people are really trying to justify keeping him at Arkansas? I really hate that the world has come to the "winning at all costs" mindset. When is football just a game? People need to stand up and say, enough. What he did is wrong, and for those of you who say "its his personal life", well its not personal anymore and children see and hear about how he cheated on his wife and lied to his boss about the incident and people are saying it okay. We need to have better judgment and need to let slimeballs like petrino get what they deserve.

That fanbase simply doesn't get it. The legal ramifications of this incident could set the university way back, but they'll choose to keep him because of 21 wins in 2 seasons. He isn't going anywhere.

I guarantee if he was the coach at UT there would be people clamoring to keep him had he been winning here.

some would i'm sure, but ill tell ya one thing, i sure as hell wouldnt. personal life is personal until its MADE public. Ever heard the expression "it all comes out in the wash"? Eventually all things come to fruition. But back to the point, no i would not be for keeping a coach like that at all.

I would not be asking to keep him. I wanted Pearl gone when all his stuff came out.

I just wouldn't wanna deal with the baggage if he was the coach here and we decided to keep him

When you look at college football as the business that it is, then it makes more sense why they are keeping him. They would have fired him already if they were gonna fire him, imo.

You're looking at a program that has performed well above expectations, not only in a tough conference but a ridiculously tough division, the past two years. They are trying to build the program to prominence in an absolutely brutal conference not only on the field but in recruiting. The last thing you want to do is toss a coach out when it could cause it all to unravel overnight.

I am certainly not saying it's right nor do I agree that he stays, just my opinion on the rational behind closed doors in Little Rock.

He certainly shouldn't be fired for having an affair or wrecking his motorcycle. Those two incidents are not in any shape or form related to football.

The promotion of his mistress within the department and allegedly consistent lying to the AD is quite another issue.

Louisville would love to still have him and would keep him, just like they kept Pitino after all that went down. Considering SEC football is that much more of "life" in the south than any other sport, programs are willing to look the other way.

Did Pitino lie about his extramarital affair though to his superiors? I can't remember. I don't think it looks good, but a coach's personal life is none of my business. Petrino made it Ark's business when he lied about no one being with him and she was just recently hired in the football offices.

Everyone knew about Petrino before Ark hired him. He showed his true stripes when he left the Falcons. He's a scumbag.

remember this is the same fanbase that solicited phone records under the FOIA act and flew banners over the stadium to fire Nutt

I guess the OP wasn't reading this board when Kiffin was a Vol.

Actually I was. Many of the things he did made UT look aweful. I'm glad he is gone. Did I like him when he first showed up, yes. But when he started his charades I wanted him gone.

If he were 5-8 we wouldn't even be having the conversation - I agree what what's been said before I don't think he should be fired for much of anything that he does in private (if it's legal) but once you lie to your boss and/or violate nepotism rules you open yourself up to it.

Why is it always what this world is "coming to"? It's human nature, and it has always been this way even if the media wasn't there to capitalize on it until now.

I liked Pearl. He deserved to be fired for lying about what he did and trying to cover it up. Had he just told the TRUTH he would still be the coach.

Or when they held a rally in support of Pearl in G10.

Pitino did not lie, at all. That's why he was kept. The second the girl started trying to blackmail him, he went to the school/authorities and destroyed her at the cost of cutting off his own hand. Pretty fair trade (assuming it was his left hand).

Arkansas is in a bad position and I just don't see how they can keep him. They school or Bobby) can't allow her to keep her job, between the wife and the fact she scr#wed her boss she has to be fired or at least moved to another department.

In either case the school will open itself up to a lawsuit it can't win if Bobby is still the coach. Then again they might just pay her off and it all goes away, except on the recruiting trail.
