His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy
There's vomit on his suit already, Barb's spaghetti
He's nervous, but on the surface he looks calm and ready to drop bombs
But he keeps on forgetting the plays he wrote down, Neyland crowd goes so loud
He opens his mouth, but the words won't come out
He's choking how, Volnation's joking now
The clock's run out, time's up, over 52-49, blaow!

I can't hate on Dooley. Yes, he was a disaster as a Head Coach. Had some weird "ism's" and all that. But at the end of the day, he is a very decent human being with actual values. Things that could not be said about the other coaches since Phil. I'm glad he was replaced, but pray the best for he and his family.

Looks more like he’s ducking down so all the Vol fans coming down that ramp don’t see him. Or maybe he’s trying to dig the orange pants out of the trash.

Dooley got ahead of where he should have been as a head football coach --- too much, too fast. He is a smart guy and was adept at many things -- just not head coaching. I found him to be very entertaining with some of his antics and lessons. But, he wasn't ready in any way to be a head football coach at a top tier school and he was able to get the job, I bet, on a hope and a prayer by UT's admin that he could be the second coming of his Dad. He wasn't -- at least not as a coach. There's nothing wrong with that in my view (other than the wasted time he was coach). I was glad when he departed, but like Sam I Am, above, to me he appears to be a "very decent human being." I wish him luck going forward, unless he is on the opposite sideline. Go Vols!

This is how I feel also, no personal animosity. He did his best, the problem is that it was terrible.

It's not really his fault, I blame Mike Hamilton. As hard as it is for me to wrap my mind around this, he was 4-8 at La Tech in 2009. 4-8. We hired a 4-8 SUN BELT COACH to be the coach at a legit top ten program historically (top 5 over the last 20 years prior to 2009).

I don't care what his last name is, that was ****ing unbelievably stupid and we got the result that could easily have been predicted. .

There were three things that happened in the year or so that Fulmer was fired.

1. Fired a legendary coach and (IMO) not in a good way (ie it could have been done a lot more smoothly)
2. Hired a guy that ditched us after a year
3. Hired Dooley to replace him

Of the above three items, the worst effect on our program was from 3 IMO. 2 was a disaster for sure, but instead of a fire extinguisher Mike Hamilton grabbed a can of gasoline and threw it on the dumpster fire.

Ugh...thank God that at long last it appears we have put that past us. (BVS is not going to allow me to make a stronger statement than that :D)

Refreshing to see a VN'er not ruled by, deep-fried in, and coated with hate-ism. I think Dooley should never have been hired. Unfortunately, no one else wanted the job at the time. Considering the size of the dumpster fire at the UT at the time, who can blame them. So we scrapped the bottom of the barrel thrice - Dooley, Butch-Pruitt. I utterly detest Pruitt for what he did, and we may yet see NCAA penalties as a result. But Dooley, I feel more pity for him than hate. I think he actually tried, he just didn't know what he was doing. Butch slit his own throat by making desperate, stupid decisions. Foremost was letting his defensive and strength coaches go. That and he just wasn't even a moderately decent coach. But I don't hate him either. One shouldn't hate on the disabled [Leviticus 19:14]. Pruitt, however, willfully placed the school in harms way. That, I detest strongly.

I doubt the NCAA will hit Tennessee with very much if they do anything at all.

Most ANY aspiring Coach SHOULD have jumped at the chance to Coach Tennessee; regardless of the situation. Saturday night showed what Tennessee is. Possibly the Best Job in America. Those that turned UT down are not sleeping well .

Little brother and I just had this conversation last night - the BVS kicked in severely !!!

What if we knock-off UGA and make it to Atlanta and that week the NCAA hands down the penalty that includes a post-season ban ???!!!!
Is the SECCG considered an NCAA sanctioned game, or is it deferred to the SEC, also is that one considered 'post-season'?
What if we win the SECCG, does that keep us out of the CFP ???

Like I said, the beer and BVS were flowing freely at my house last night....HAHAHAHA

I hope you're right. I just can't shake the feeling they're waiting until we are the highest we can go before dropping the hammer on us. I believe if they pull such a stunt, they lose the SEC at the very least. The public relations hum and buzz of Tennessee returning, the Alabama-Tennessee game becoming a real rivalry again, the money a bowl-bound Vols team drags in via its incomparable traveling fans, etc. they will be declaring war on the SEC, and the SEC will not stand for it. In which case, the greed of Sankey & Co. benefits the UT. So you may very well be right, no sanctions or penalties. However, never, ever, ever underestimate human stupidity.

Mike Hamilton would be a great case study for piss poor management of a football program. Just historically incompetent.

Our Tennessee vanity says that: Most ANY aspiring Coach SHOULD have jumped at the chance to Coach Tennessee.
But the reality of THEN said otherwise. I'm proud of our program too. But there two great educators in all of history:
Ms. experience, and Mr. Reality.
