In a rec league game, someone blocked the shot of a girl on my team and yelled a similar expletive, and he received no technical (and we had already been given 2-3 technicals as a team for talking to the refs). I said to the ref that their language was worse than anything we said to get our technicals, and I was promptly given a techical.
This thread brought back memories of that ridiculous game.
You play in a co-Ed rec league???
No, it's a men's league, but women are not barred.
The girl who was blocked is actually more than capable of taking care of herself. She starred at a Division 2 school and played professionally in Europe. She's better than most of the guys on our company teams.
So it wasn't like the guy blocked a player who isn't any good. But, the explanation of the Washpun technical definitely took me back to that game; only time I've ever been ejected. Three of our guys got tossed at various points. They had a quick trigger finger when it came to calling technicals on us. Had they ever called just one on the opponent, it would have settled things down. Instead, they kept giving us reasons to think they were out to get us for something.

Yep, like I said, she's an athletic girl who is very talented at basketball and "plays like a man" in the paint.
But, it still wasn't very gentlemanly to yell that. I do expect guys to play her physically though; she'll kill you otherwise.
That's still bushleague though. I get that guys are in a no win situation. If you get the best of her, you should because you're a guy. If you don't, you just got humiliated by a girl.
I spent an afternoon chasing Jennifer Azzi around the court as she came into town to train or whatever she was doing. That was brutal. I never guarded a man who moved as much as she did.
I was at UT in the late 80's. I think I remember Azzi coming to the basketball courts and playing then. Is that the right time frame for her?
Edit: Just Goggled her to get my facts straight and yeah it was Azzi that used to come to the rec building and make guys look stupid trying to guard her.
It's called taunting. It's kind of a rule in basketball, ya know? You can't cuss to somebody's face after making a good play. Regardless of what you think about it, the call that was made was the correct call.
