It still seems to me that the millions of dollars AARP is spending on the Drive to End Hunger sponsorship could be spent...well...feeding people. Right?

It takes money to make money...if advertising didn't work than none of the teams would have sponsors.

Jayski has a new update up saying Bill Elliott will run the first five races in the #09 of Phoenix Racing in order to get them into the T35.

The Wood Brothers will be racing in 17 races this season, up from 13 last year. No word if Bayne will race all of them or what. I wonder if they are trying to go full time with Bayne this year.

Steven Wallace/RWI get's the #77's old owner points and locking Wallace in for the first five races. Sam Hornish will be in a Penske car in Nationwide for at least 10 races next season.

Travis Kvapil and David Gililand will return to Front Row Motorsports for 2011, Frontrow will also start using Ford's new FR9 motor and has purchased 34 cars from Richard Petty Motorsports. They'll also enter the #37 in select events this year.

Thanks for posting, I must have it bad, I watched Edwards and Truex do take questions for about 30 minutes yesterday.

I can't wait to see this paved Daytona track and how it affects the racing.

It will make closer racing. Tire wear will no longer be a factor, not that it was much of one to begin with. I personally think it takes away from Daytona's previous track "character".

so part of the track "character" should include its ability to come apart?

Drivers are saying expect lots of three wide racing and even four wide on the back straight. Tire wear should be less than before, handling not as important as before. Carl Edwards said it doesn't make much difference what they do to the car, it still drives well. Crew chiefs are setting the cars up for maximum speed first, then handling. Sounds like Talladega.

then considering Talladega is the best race of the year, i'm excited for this.

first pick 'em bonus should be how many cars in the big one and/or how many GWCs.

Well we won't have to worry about Conway, he attempt to qualify the 97 of NEMCO for the 500, maybe this is the last time we'll see him. I honestly expected him to get the ride at TRG since they are locked in and need a driver/sponsor.

•NASCAR looking to change qualifying rainout procedure: The days of the starting order being set by rank in points when qualifying is rained out might be coming to an end. Multiple sources said after Monday meetings with NASCAR that plans are in place to set the qualifying order based on practice speeds, and the starting order based on practice speeds if qualifying is rained out. The qualifying order currently is set by a draw, with the team whose owner has the most owner points picking first. Under the proposed plan, which is expected to be announced Wednesday by chairman Brian France, the only way the starting order will be based on points is if both practice and qualifying are rained out. The sources said NASCAR remains consistent with its plan to change the points structure to a 43-1 format, giving 43 points for first, 42 for second and one point less for each spot through last.(ESPN.com)(1-25-2011)
