After watching the men play yesterday and watching the women play today, i notice that neither team can hit lay ups, hit foul shots in pressure situations, or play aggressive perimeter defense . The Lady VOLs seem to shoot better from the outside.

Pat Summit deserved a say in naming a successor. Warlick deserved a chance to succeed. She has had it and been found wanting. The program deserves better.

No comparison at all. Lady VOLs ranked 8 and definitely going to the dance high seed. Comparisons except the same school and gym are silly

Warlick coached well last year. Team was very young. I was disappointed they didn't win in the Elite Eight, but the season wasn't a failure. She hasn't done anything yet to warrant getting rid of her.

Correct - no comparison at all. Holly was handed the reins to the top program in WCBB.

The concern is how far we will have fallen by the time the program is pried away from her.

Huh? I can't say that I watch every game, but they have lost 5 this year. If she loses early in the tournament, then I would consider your point. But she took a very young team to the Elite Eight last year. I am not claiming her a great coach, but my gosh.

Underachieving in both programs.

It's a pretty dark era in UT sports all the way around (except softball).

With all the inherent advantages of the Lady Vol program, Elite 8s should be expected.

Correct. Too many get on this site and blame the coaches for every loss. Not one TN coach made any of the Lady Vol's 22 turnovers and not one coach shot a paltry one for five from outside the 3-point arch.

Haha. Pat wasn't getting to Elite Eights at the end if her career. That is ridiculous. Even women's basketball has changed since Pat started coaching. It's not just UT, UConn, and everyone else anymore. If she starts losing first, second, and maybe even Sweet 16 games, then maybe I would agree.

In today's women's college basketball there are 20-30 really good teams and programs, being in the top ten is not a bad thing. Also a Pat Summitt only comes along every 100 years or more. It would be great to have the next Pat Summitt, but not very likely. Any one who follows a living ledgend will be judged inadequate. I agree that if recruiting falls off and we begin to not go deep into the tournament it will require a change. But until then this was Pat's pick and I trust her evaluation of a coach more that our very intelligent posters.

How many programs have had better recruiting classes over the past five years?

Kentucky sure hasn't.

How high was Florida Gulf Coast recruiting the last five years? How about Belmont? Gonzaga? Yes these are men's program, but the point is it is easier to build a BB program because you only need three really good player a a solid supporting staff and good coaching to have some success.

Not nearly that many! After the top FIVE in WBB the quality is really lacking.:whistling:
