espns team rankings are by far the best. as they actually evaluate who you signed rather than how many players. quality >>>>> quantity. You guys are going to need more than one player ranked in the top 100 to have a top 10 class.

We will get 2 or 3 of your four and five star commits on signing day!

Even if we end up with the #10 class, where are we in the SEC?

Behind Florida, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, ..etc

There were 4 SEC teams ranked ahead of florida last year including Tennessee! Ala, Ga, and Lsu rank ahead of them now and we will pass them before NSD! THEY ARE ON THE WAY OUT AND JUST DONT KNOW IT YET!!!

We aren't going to be able to consistently "out-recruit" those teams. We just have to stay close until we get to the point where games are decided by superior execution and coaching instead of simply superior talent.

The difference between 1 or 2 spots in recruiting rankings isn't usually that much anyway.

This reminds me of an old quote. Dont count your chickens untill they hatch. It isnt NSD yet. We will probably loose some guys and get some guys that we didnt know were interested. Who thought that some of the better guys we got last NSD were even interested in UT!? Nuke, Teague, Miles, BB and probably a few more that I cant remember. These guys are young and really dont know what they want to do. They might say they are going one place and then have a change of heart at the last minute. Lets wait untill NSD to be happy/sad about the 10' class. I for one will be happy no matter what. If we get a bunch of 3*, I will read about what they can do and not even think about that 5* that USC/UF or whatever other team got. I think we have the staff to make any player better but I guess we will have to see come Sept 5.

On Scout, Brown and Harris are four stars, and Irvin is a three. On Rivals, Brown was a four star (5.9) for the 2007 class when he signed with Florida. Those ratings usually rise on Rivals for JUCO players. Brent Schaeffer was a five star after JUCO, which on the other hand, is exactly why ratings are not always right .

rae sykes was rated a 4* before he went JuCo yet was rated a 3* last year when we picked him up again so that isnt always the case.

correct me if im wrong, but i think i remember reading something saying that he had been injured and that may have to do with his drop in rankings though.

This class seems like it picks up steam everyday. I think our Juco guys will all be ranked pretty high by Rivals. I think Irwin's #'s alone get him a 4*. Brown will be a 4*. Harris maybe a 4*. But I don't think we will be any higher than 5th. We still have to get some OLinemen in this class and they are usually not ranked that high. Which will hurt our ranking. But we have to get at least one QB and probably 5 more Olinemen in this class if we can get some quailty Linemen this class will be a success. No matter what the rankings are. We will get some more highly ranked guys but the overall ranking will depend on how highly the linemen we get are ranked.

Natty light, but I've only had one. Not sure what you are disputing about the thread, Joey.

Clemson has no JuCo guys committed. We pass them when ours are ranked.

USC has one and he's a low 3 star. They only have 12 commits.

Stanford is almost full. No JuCo players. We pass them.

Michigan has no JuCo players. We pass them.

That puts us at #10 in the rankings as it currently stands with our JuCo players ranked. The targets left on our board are highly rated guys and we have 12 spots open. A top 5 class is very attainable.

What do we need to approach the top 3? Or is that a goal for next year?

Don't tell our coaches that...or Nu'Keese or Marsalis either. As far as that goes, I wouldn't even tell this supposed "bigfish" qb we're about to get either. Better yet, I'll just say "Yes We Can."

All I have to say about Juco xfer's is that Brent Schaeffer was givin' 'em hell out in Cali, then he went to Ole Miss and played some REAL football. I'm just sayin'.

He wasn't playing in a vacuum. That was a sorry team around him against stiff competition. It's a team game.

I think top 3 isn't very realistic this year. It is possible, but we would need to add top rated players at nearly every open spot. Our class is also going to be loaded down with guys that aren't that highly rated, but will fit well in our system. OL are rarely rated very high and we're going to have a lot of them. Our 3 stars will be better than a lot of 4 and 5 star players. These guys know how to recognize talent.

We have 12 left as of now.

LB's - 2 or 3
Olinemen - 5
Dlinemen - 1 or 2
WR - 1 or 2
RB - 1
DB - 1 or 2
QB's - 1 or 2

If they are enrolled in Jan. I believe they can backcount them. I am not sure but look for some Juco Olinemen that fits that mold.

Are we allowed to sign 25 or 28 per the new SEC rule? I was thinking it was 25, but there was something about 28 as well, IIRC. Anyone know the specifics?

We can sign 28 but you can only have 25 count towards the 2010 signing class. If the #'s don't add up. Some will have to enroll early to backcount or grayshirt. Which I don't look for any grayshirts. Kiffin doesn't like to oversign. He will leave himself some room for next year.

UT should be a top 7 to 10 class on a yearly basis based on proximity to talent and the Manning/White connection alone. How many schools have two of the top ten NFL players to date? Orgeron should get near the top classes soon imo once he gets entrenched here. He appears to be to relentless to be denied. What kind of effect do you think Bray will have on this class Sabster? Specifically the Cali Boys.

It's a good thing we have more that one player currently ranked in the top 100 then, isn't it?

I wouldn't put much stock in the recruiting rankings. Tennessee has finished in the top ten in 5 of the last 8 seasons.

Ouch. Tis true

You need the combo of great recruits with great coaching. Urban has done well with both...hate to admit that
