Yeah, but what about Gruden's wife? How many of the 25 had wives that went to those schools? That is the most important determinant. Maybe Brady Hoke's wife was a Michigan cheerleader.Let's put this to bed once and for all. Let's just look at the alma mater's of the current AP top 25 head coaches.

Just starting to wonder why we have so many non Tennessee guys running our university....
Our present AD was canned/demoted from being an AD. He was working as an assistant AD when somebody decided UT apparently has never produced anyone that is qualified to run a major college athletic department program as AD. <smfh> A guy that couldn't cut it elsewhere, we hire. For fb HC we may as well offer Charlie Weis using the same logic.Im not thrilled with a Bama guy at UT but these are businessmen first and foremost. If they put school ties ahead of business in their life they would never get to the level of being an AD.

I heard from my cousins ex wife who was 3rd cousins with a guy who owned a dog named spot, that was purchased from a guy who wore a Florida st hat and he said. Hart told all the little kids in Florida Santa was not real, that he was the tooth fairy. So take it for what it's worth......... But seriously can we stop all the stupid **** about firing hart and how bad he is and how dare he not get gruden. He is out interviewing quality coaches and if and when he talks Fisher or Tressel or another coach into coming be thankful. Until we interview the Wyoming or the Akron coach then you can start to worry.[/Q vERY GOOD STUFF

It is a combination of several things.
TK Wetherell was a former football player and butted heads with Hart, so Hart's contract wasn't renewed despite success in almost every hire at FSU. TK then went out and got a puppet AD from the Air Force Academy(Spetman). FSU's AD makes 350k per year and got a 1 year contract extension, so that tells you how much power he has. Many boosters would love to have a strong AD again that can handle all of these realignment shenanigans...
Huh? He hardly made any significant hires at FSU. The football and baseball coaches were inherited and never changed. He hired Steve Robinson as basketball coach, who was a bad hire and couldn't win or recruit. Next he hired Leonard Hamilton, who was a good hire, but took a really long time to get the program back in shape.
Also, you should probably google the Jeff Bowden debacle. Obviously, it was Bobby Bowden who pushed that one through, but Hart let it go and it was a disaster, and it took the boosters finally stepping in to resolve it.
Does anyone have a scoop on his leaving Florida State? I think I read on this board he was fired but I can't find anything online explaining why or anything.
