Skylar didn't play did he

So we don’t have a right to post about UT athletics if we’re not parents? I’ll keep that in mind. McBee, bless his heart, does not deserve to be on the court based on his play, it doesn’t take a parent to see that.

Did I say anything about not having a right to posts? NO!

It is about attitude. Bashing our own players on a regular basis does not sound good.

I bet your kids are in for a really rude awakening when they hit the real world.

My kids have hit the real world and they found it just as I had warned them about. But I did teach them to respect other people. You usually receive back what you give, even though it may take a while to come back.

^This.

Don't worry...we aren't all rude like that around here.

I was talking about Hat's comment regarding child-rearing...not what you said. It's all good.

Steven has played a lot better the past couple of weeks.

He won't be mistaken for an All-American, but he's doing a good enough job as a back-up. Of him, Swiperboy, or McBee for that final spot, I'll take him.

On the Animal this past week they asked Pearl specifically about him getting after McBee. He stated that he felt McBee was playing to "not make mistakes" and wasn't aggressive, wasn't acting like a "gunslinger". He indicated that his play was too timid to be acceptable.

It is pretty easy to see by the posts here who are not parents.

It is amazing to read some of the disgustingly negative remarks about the kids who have chosen to give their best for UT.

It is one thing to talk about lack of effort, but when I see these guys going all out, and then seeing the crap (for the lack of a better word) in running down these kids, it makes me sick to think some of you people could actually be Tennessee fans.

Stephen Pearl does not score a lot, but he works his butt off; plays good defense, and has helped this team a lot. McBee may make some mistakes, but I love his hustle and effort, and the shot against Kansas was good for a lot of mistakes.

I just wonder if you will remember all this negative garbage you dished out when you have a child playing and hear people thrashing your kid.

Really!! You are probably that guy that wears under armour to coach your kids Y-league under 10 basketball game(co-ed mind ya). Please refrain from defending the dreaded "white boy" package Mr. hustle for the ball. It will not get us past the first round of the tourney. And yes, I am white so there is absolutely nothing wrong here, besides you defending steven as a legitimate player.
It takes 5 players offensively to win in March, not a coaches son that does the little things on defense for more than 20 minutes every game. PLEASE!!! He makes me vomit!:bad:

McBee not playing = Tip-to-final buzzer 16 point win on the road over a 21 win team.....I'll take it.....

Rev?

How did race get in this? Of course, you remarks do not make any sense, so why should you not throw in a little race too.

He may make you vomit, but you cannot possibly be as sick of him as I am of people like you who want to put down our own players.

By the way, our team wears Orange, and that is the only color I see. I appreciate effort and heart, and it doesn't matter about their color.

Maybe a little group therapy on anger management?

Chill guys!

Our New Year's Day adventurers are finally playing well. Williams gives us a bigger, more physical front court. And Tatum is more athletic at the #2 guard. If we face a team that forces us to shoot outside (hasn't happened in the last 2 games), I would expect to see more of McBee.

And Stephen Pearl is being used kinda like Dane Bradshaw. Gets the ball and then passes to someone in motion, Quarterback style. He may have found his role.

May have is an understatement imo. He has relished in his new role. The kids got a lot of pressure on him. He has responded as well as his body/mind will allow him. I can assure you that we have seen his more talented teammates do things out there that are far more puzzling than SP. Sp shows up, gives 100% of himself everday. He knows (as many have pointed out) that he would be better suited at a mid major or D2/NAIA. However, he is here and he has (short of FT, which piss me off) played surprisingly well as of late considering.

I like McBee, and it's awesome that he's from the area, however, I want the best players on the floor, and I think that's why we got off to a 17 pt lead, regardless what the announcers thought about it just being MState sucking.

I'm 99% sure that the vast majority of fans agree with you.

You gotta remember that people posting on VN have a reason they're posting here; it's because they're angry, really emotionally invested, or whatever.

As it is, I don't bash players or boo them. If a player isn't producing on the court the solution isn't to tear them down, it's to bench them and hope they improve. As it is Pearl isn't a pro player; he is what he is. He makes some dumb plays and some good plays, and when he plays to his strengths he can be a direct asset by producing turnovers and playing defense, or an indirect asset by resting our more talented players. I don't have anything against him; I don't even know him.

zing

with professional putdowns like that what's next? Some joke about how he's a girl for not being "man enough" to cowardly call out walk-ons on a college basketball team on an internet message board?

You're on fire broseph keep it up

McBee should not be playing, especially over Bone. I have no idea why Skylar has been playing over him.

And Stephen deserves to be getting time over Renaldo.

Unless he is able to knock down threes at a better clip than he's shown in games, Skylar might as well get used to riding the pine. He's a defensive liability. Not knocking him, but you can only play the cards you're dealt.

I think its simply he was not to pleased with his production over a period of 3-5 games and then Brian williams and Cameron Tatum played their way into more minutes in the rotation and that is why you see less of skylar and Renaldo

I would guess that most teams have splits that look like that when their backups come in. There is an expected decline in production for most teams in that situation. Its called a substitution rotation.

So he only matched up with States starters? No "substitution rotation" for them?

So he only matched up with States reserves?

Listen, Im not defending him, he obviously should not be playing at this level...But some people's hard ons for him is pretty pathetic.

Why? Tatum is a better three point shooter.

When the team is healthy, Skylar is going to get a lot of minutes. He isn't good enough to be in the rotation
