Skylar McBee Evaluation

Agree.

I'm curious to see if Cuonzo pushes the pace a little more, and I hope he does. That would really help Skylar. He's good in transition.

jujaun smith and Lofton wouldn't have been the players they were if we didn't run at that time. Continuous half court sets would have hampered their games.

No doubt.

Other than Reggie Miller, I can't really think of a three point bomber that wasn't good in transition.

If our post game is that good, the inside out game should be even better. I don't consider a kickout for an open 3 the same as jacking up a 3. Open 3 is easier for these guys to hit than a 10-12 footer.

You speak the truth, sir. A good post kick-out is a thing of beauty.

The main goal of the motion offense is to not have to call any plays. So if McBee is getting 6-8 shots a game it should be coming out of the flow of the offense. (inbounds plays excluded).

We ran some last year for him, and they were usually telegraphed, that's where my statement was coming from.

However, the offense wasn't fully implicated so hopefully that changes this year and we see mre fluidity.

I agree. I even think Martin mentioned that at times he had to call set plays (which he doesn't like to do) because the guys weren't getting into the offense well enough. I bet that most of the set plays were called when Trae was out if the game.

Yea, our offense was non existent without trae.

I've never hated on a player more. So sad but he makes me pull my hair out at times. He's easy to hate and love lol.

What has Skylar ever done to make you pull your hair out? Local kid that took a walk on and then was given a scholarship. He plays as hard as he can, every single second he is on the floor and gets 150% out of his talent on simple effort and hard work. I have said it before and will again. It's not Skylar you guys should be hating on, it's all the guys with twice his athletism sitting on the bench that won't work hard enough to keep him off the floor that you should be mad at.

I don't disagree that he has heart but if you want the truth, it's because he sucked half of the time. I appreciate his hustle and hard work but he got burnt a majority of the time on defense early to mid season and shot enough bricks to build a subdivision. That makes me pull my hair out when the guys not athletic enough to drive into the paint without getting swatted and then bricks shot after shot. He's extremely inconsistant. I'll give you that he hit another gear towards the end of the season and played his best basketball but I was probably more frustrated with his play last year than I was satisfied. It got so bad that when he would throw a shot up, i'd get nervous. That's not a good feeling when he's your best three point shooter.

Funny that you dogged him about his shooting and then admitted he's the best UT has. Again, it's not the walk-ons fault he's the best shooter on the team.

I think Skylar is very valuable as a defender when going up against those unathletic 2 guards like Jenkins. Was it lamb from uconn he effectively shut down last year or another high profile 2? I can't remember exactly

It was John Jenkins. Watched Yankeefanintenn's video of the game on you tube a couple weeks ago, and the announcers praised mcbee's D on Jenkins quite a bit. Sure, he may occasionally get exposed on D against certain types of players, but he's a very good defender overall. We have other players on the team that are much greater liabilities on D than skylar (sorry Trae...I hate to say it).
