Sleep Study

Anyone had one to determine sleep apnea, and if so, did you have trouble sleeping?

I had one last night and it went pretty badly. Out of the 7 hours I was supposed to sleep, it felt like I may have slept 1.5. Probably closer to 3 but I'm afraid they didn't get enough actual sleep to determine if I have apnea or not.

Very unusual - when I did my study they gave me something to help me sleep. Mine was done at Park West Hospital. Where did you have yours done?

Had the test many years ago, needed a CPAP. The best sleep I got was when I turned the damn thing off ! It was like a freight train running through the room.

They might be quieter now, don't know.

They are. They also have a variable pressure so when machine senses you are exhaling it reduces the flow.

I honestly can't hear the wife's running.

My dad has bad apnea but he refuses to use his machine. I've tried talking with him numerous times, but it's just no use.

It's very serious business. In severe cases it can be fatal (Reggie White). Long term health issues can be substantial too. It can lead to heart arrhythmia and high blood pressure just to name a couple.
