Slow your roll….(edit..increase your roll)

I am just excited as anyone about the vols. More nervous/excited about gameday. The vols have created more buzz around the state and around the sec/nation. Their high flying offense is just a joy to watch and Hooker is a human highlight film.
I see on vol Twitter how confident everyone is on going undefeated or at least beating Bama or Georgia in the upcoming weeks. I also understand that it is pent up frustration from the Pruitt and butch eras and most of it is justified. A lot of the trash talk is fun to do when your team is on top and beating teams. It is also fun imagine winning more games whether your favored or not.

I am not a nega vol, I guess I am waiting for the other shoe to drop. I have PTSD from the last 14 years of coaches leaving, probation, heartbreaking loses, losing to Georgia st, or just terrible calls by the zebras. Winning in the SEC on the road is rough to do just ask UGA.

Our defense is very very suspect and has a lot of issues to work out. We can’t run the ball with a running back )can’t ask hooker to run 9-12 times a game.) are we a top 10 team maybe? I can see our team going 9-3, but could also see them going 11-1 (losing to Bama or uga).

Sorry for the long post.. grill away. Give me your best post replies….
The question you should be asking yourself is why the excitement of others about where the program seems to be heading offends you. Enjoy the moment. None of us know where it will go. Have the courage to enjoy the sunshine without worrying about the next night.

I'm amazed at the events that lead to the last 2 Ws against UF.

In '16, it was Juan Jennings circus-catch, staying in bounds and running away from the defender. UF was done after that.
In '22, it was Ramel Keyton's incredible, lay-your-body-out grab that did it. You knew UF was done after that. Yes, they put up garbage points at the end and UT had a terrible special teams play that gave them a chance, but the game was UT's. They knew it.

I wonder if this same type of "special-play" is necessary at LSU? Or is it a boat-race by UT?

Waiting for the other shoe to drop = Nega vol.
Not that there is anything wrong with that. Your post is 100% accurate

It’s simple. Yes, UGA and Bama are better than us and should beat us but we’re 4-0 and we will have the best chance to beat those teams that we’ve had in a long time. Win or lose, that’s reason enough to have some fun and enjoy what’s happening right now. After what we’ve been through we need to have some fun.

I set my expectations for this season at 8-4 or 9-3 both of which would be a improvement over last seasons 7-5 which surprised us all in 2021. Anything better than 9-3 is icing on the cake we have already got payback on Pitt and Florida and Heup has us back in the top ten and relevant again. We need to finish in the top 15 at the end of this season and get a bowl win, and winning 10 games for the first time since 2007 would be really big and a gigantic next step in Heup’s second season. We are going to go 9-3 or 10-2 no doubt barring major injuries.

We should be excited! I’m freaking pumped that we have won a couple of he “toss ups” we were debating before the season. If you’re a Vol life is good right now. Love it.

That doesn’t make the OP wrong. I would push back that there is no other shoe to drop though. We are not likely winning out anymore than we are goin to implode. This isn’t all or nothing, it’s football.

We have been competitive in every game to date. That’s outstanding in my book. Could have folded a couple of times but found a way to get the W. We keep that mentality up and 2022 is going to be a season we remember as a turning point.

We are relevant again. Enjoy the moment. Don’t worry about the past and don’t concern yourself about the future. Right now is amazing. Go Vols.
Excellent way of putting it sir!!!
You are 100% right

I highly doubt UT does better than 10-2. Its more likely they go 9-3 or 8-4, but they do have a good chance at 10-2. They also have a slight chance of 11-1, but it will mean UT plays some of the best football ever and one of the better teams not so much.

I just love vol message boards!!
I'm getting concerned if I'm being honest. Yesterday you spent a lot of time talking up Kentucky being better, so much you started a thread claiming they got cheated vs. Ole miss. Now, here's a thread about why we aren't as good as people think. That's odd for a Tennessee fan.

The “playoff talk” is too early but if things break right, Tennessee can play with anyone on the schedule. If things don’t break right….well we sure as hell got experience with that too. Just enjoy the season 1 week at a time.

Well put.

UK fans were talking national championship before Saturday (and now somehow they’re still going to beat Georgia and us and win the East?).

all of you giving him **** are missing that he said he "could see us going 11-1" and flat stated he is not a NegaVol

Does not come across as one to me, and I have seen plenty of those on here in the past

honestly some caution is warranted...this is a very tough 3-game stretch coming up. I am as excited for it as I have been about any Vol games in a long time, but 0-3 is definitely possible. If it happens, I will still appreciate the 4-0 start and look forward to the rest of the season.

We need to hang an L on LSU then worry about uga and bammer.=

Another poster thinking they’re the intelligent voice of reason in a wilderness of rampant stupidity. People are excited for one of the few times in the past couple of decades so STFU and let ppl be happy. You pissing on the parade isn’t going to temper anyone’s expectations.
Well, I dont see anything wrong with Teacher's sentiment. I believe the OP was simply reminding themselves that its ok to be excited but to keep feet on the ground is smart. Especially with defensive liabilities and thin RB room, not to mention Hook just cannot keep running as much as he did against Fla and stay injury free. Nothing wrong with the post. And one needs to remember, at least in my opinion......any person who posts very often on Twitter - your credibility is up for review. Just sayin.

You'd be hard pressed to find anyone here that thinks we're going 11-1. Dude, it's been YEARS since we've been this good. Let us enjoy this while it last. I still believe we are a 9-3 or 10-2 team. That doesn't change the fact we are 4-0 with one of the best Offenses in Football. Enjoy this while it lasts and dream big. You never know Hoss. These kids my shock the world.
