Smokey Grey Uniforms?

Makes no sense...Oregon wears white jerseys with green shoulders all the time...So does Miami "Ohio"

That argument holds no water

It's an SEC rule so it wouldn't effect those teams anyways. Both teams can wear their home unis but the home team has to agree to it before hand. The only exceptions being LSU who wears their road white jerseys at home and the away team wears their home jersey.

gray is one ugly looking uniform for the Vols,it would look good on the Navys uniforms and wasn't A&Ms uniforms the same template by Adidas ? even down to the state on the back ? so much for UTs unique uniforms made just for them,of course shirts sales are up for Adidas

They look sharp. Players love them. Recruits love them. More than 80 percent of the fans love them. They're not going anywhere.

Fans don't love them like they used to. They seem to have lost their appeal when the vandy game was lost making the Vols 0-2 wearing them. Also, the vandy game came with 2 weeks to prepare. Almost 100,000 win hungry Vol fans at Neyland Stadium experienced the thrill of victory and then the agony of defeat within about 1 minute when the 4th down call was reversed.

More than 80%, no way. I would say 60% and I haven't spoken to many older demographic groups where the % would fall dramatically. They looked sharp but we lost tragically in them so change it up. The black looks better in my opinion.

Black and gray unis dilute the franchise. We are orange and white. Hard to believe we can't come up with boss, one off, unis using our colors.

There really is no advantage to wearing alternate uniforms since so many other teams do it. And if fact Bama has the most conservative policy on uniforms and they are leading the country in recruiting.

Instead of spending good money of silly gimmicks let's put a few more dollars in the coaching pot and get someone that knows how to call plays and teach sound basics of football. It is working for Alabama.

If you love bama and their uniforms so much go cheer for them. I'm sure they can always use a couple more bandwagon fans.

I'll agree to an extent. Having a black or gray uniform especially seems like you're basically one of a million. Everyone does the black and even more are jumping on the gray bandwagon. I'm not saying we shouldn't, but it certainly isn't unique by any means.

I hate Bama but you have to admire their success. It is just like we have to be like everyone else in copying trends. We are 0-2 in the grays and have not had a winning season since we put on those black jerseys.

We had a winning season when we wore the black jerseys, so I'm not sure your point.

That argument holds no water

If we modified the 2004 throwbacks to only have orange on the shoulders, like those pictured, they would be fine.

As worn in 2004, the orange extended down to even with the collar, which makes it illegal.

NCAA rules say a white jersey can have contrasting shoulders, but the color cannot extend to the "front" of the jersey. They consider the collar area as the "front" of the jersey.

Sorry but we haven't won much lately in the other choices. Your reasoning is flawed

So the uniform is why you win or lose? Sorry but talent on the field and coaching are reasons but uniform color no way

We also make money with the uniforms. Look a at sales of the new stuff in Grey not just jerseys. It sells and that in turn puts the money in the University. If we wore an alternate helmet this place would explode.

The uni's are missing. They need grey matte helmets. Leave the Power T if you must, but with the white helmets it's "the almost complete cool uni."

Certainly the store at UT and souvenir stands have made more money, but UT only gets about $0.25/per $60 jersey sold as a standard licencing fee.

An alternate helmet isn't going to make UT any more money, you don't sell very many replica helmets or mini-helmets.
