...is beat Ohio State, then whup Oregon, then destroy Texas, then beat Georgia in a rematch. Weren't every one of those fellas ranked #1 or #2 at some point this season?

Easy peasy. Let's get rollin'.

Oh, and if any of those likely opponents were to cough up a hairball and die before getting to us, let it be Georgia. I'm just tired of seeing them on a football field. Maybe ND can take them out.

Go Vols!

EDIT: It is entirely possible our path is the most challenging in the entire bracket.

Do this: imagine every team's path, assuming (a) that team wins each round, and otherwise (b) chalk holds.

Example: Clemson plays Texas, then Arizona State, then Oregon, then Georgia. Easier than ours, by an Ohio State trade for an Arizona State.
Example: SMU plays Penn St, then Boise St, then UGa, then Oregon. Much easier than ours.
Example: Indiana plays ND, then UGa, then Penn St, then Oregon. Easier than ours.

Yah, I don't think there's a tougher path than ours. I don't think anyone else plays a full series of opponents who spent part of the season at #1 or #2.

Go Vols!

EDIT #2: I added a poll, which is germane to this conversation. How far you think we'll get? I'm thinking this: the highest we were ranked during the season was #4. If we can get to the final four, I think that would be a nice validation on a great season. And it would mean we beat 2 of the 3 #1/#2 ranked teams in the country, to finish it off. That'd be pretty darn good.

No doubt about it. We definitely have the hardest path. But as Coach said, “Anyone, Anywhere, Anytime.”

Yup. Too much crying about it in other threads. If we want to be the man, we gotta beat the man. Embrace the suck, get comfortable being uncomfortable, live up to being Volunteers. Live the Maxims, make the General proud!
The best way I've heard it put yet...wish I could give you more likes. Too many crybabies lately.

The good news is that when UT runs the table, zero people can say it wasn't the best team in the land.

You can sum up this clusterf***k by looking at the free ride draws they gave Penn State and Texas as a reward for losing their CCG's.

And meanwhile, the unbeaten #1 seed Oregon gets the toughest draw of any of the teams with a bye.

I find it impossible to believe that these bureaucrats didn't get a chuckle out of the path they gave us, and OSU, to be honest.

This couldn't have been handled any worse, and any close to objective person would have to believe the same.

Loser talk, I know, but I’m just glad to be in. This is a huge accomplishment for the program. With that being said, let’s kick Ohio’s azz.

It's a helluva thing to be in this position, in the hunt (so to speak). The time off for the team to heal up, study the opposition, and prepare shouldn't be minimized at all. How far into the playoffs will the team make it? No idea. As others have said, there doesn't appear to be a juggernaut in the field of 12...everyone is beatable.

May the Vols crush their each of their opponents with an even mix of disciplined violence and panache.

Not in here on the "easy peasy." Can Tennessee beat Ohio State? If Michigan can go with four losses to Columbus and scratch out a win, our Tennessee team will win if it plays without a lot of penalties, dropped passes, and turnovers. Tennessee can win even with some of those errors, just not too many, and I want there to be none. Tennessee needs to achieve nearly error-free football. If this good team can do that, they can also beat Oregon. I don't think our guys have played their best game. Will we see our players do that? I hope so.

Gotta be honest-the Suckeyes are the worst possible draw for us.

I'm not very impressed by Oregon. Georgia has injury issues.

We get past tOSU somehow and we could break out. Night game in Columbus is a VERY tall order though. I think it's gonna be close whatever happens in that game.

If we get past Ohio State, I'm not so sure we would have a bad matchup against Oregon. Yes, the have an explosive offense, but I'm not sure their OL will be effective against our DL. Also, after watching Penn State's running game absolutely shred their defense, I have a hard time seeing them slow ours down. I think we can control both lines of scrimmage, which typically leads to a great deal of success.
