Gotta be honest-the Suckeyes are the worst possible draw for us.

I'm not very impressed by Oregon. Georgia has injury issues.

We get past tOSU somehow and we could break out. Night game in Columbus is a VERY tall order though. I think it's gonna be close whatever happens in that game.
I am not sure what game you watched last night but Oregon has speed all over the field and a savvy veteran qb that Can facilitate their offense like a well oiled machine.

Based on what?? Bc someone dipshitnon espn says they're "loaded" or "scary"?
If there ever was a paper tiger, 2024 osu is exactly that

I think we’re a bad matchup for OSU. Best defensive front they’ve faced, best running game, and likely the best corners.

I don't see us beating Ohio state nico needs 1 more year and I hate that Sampson will be in the NFL but we have a beautiful program next year

If we get past Ohio State, I'm not so sure we would have a bad matchup against Oregon. Yes, the have an explosive offense, but I'm not sure their OL will be effective against our DL. Also, after watching Penn State's running game absolutely shred their defense, I have a hard time seeing them slow ours down. I think we can control both lines of scrimmage, which typically leads to a great deal of success.
Tbh our path to success throughout the playoffs is our OL/DL. We'll go as far as they take us. It's pretty much that simple.

A QB that our HC spent two years with.

Knows what makes him tick. How to rattle him. What he does and doesn't do well.

I'll take my chances.

FWIW... The Big Orange has played in the Rose Bowl twice. Both under Gen Neyland. We were shut out both times and both losses were to USCsr. So.... if We get there and WTF(Duck)A...

Would Josh > the General?

Damn that is blasphemous isn't it?

At least it will be bitterly cold (probably).

I like the placing for my vols, but that is because I like watching them play elite teams. This is the legit bracket.

The first one may be the hardest one. Oregon wouldn't be easy either, but if we somehow slip past the first 2 games, I think the road gets easier after that.

I believe that tOSU is probably one of the more talented teams in the country. Like Georgia though, they come out flat half the time or more-for whatever reason.

The Suckeyes are one of those teams that could beat anyone in the country. They could also maybe lose to a Vandy-esque team

Which version are we gonna get? I have no idea.

Ohio State and Ryan Day and their fans are such a timber box right now.

If we go up on them like we did first half of the Georgia game, it could take complete wind and energy out that stadium and get ugly.

Yea that would be an interesting match up and storyline. Without Heupel who knows where Gabriel would be and without McKenzie Miltons injury (on staff) Gabriel might have had one less year starting experience before hitting the portal. Heupel started Gabriel's college career, lets hope he can end it.

Their defense was leaking like a poorly oiled machine.

Gotta beat the best to be the best!
I remember the last national championship that we won in 1998 we were paired with the best team in the land at the time (which was Florida State) and Vol fans whined about them being too good to beat. But I was happy that we were paired with them so that when we won the national championship nobody could argue that we didn’t deserve it. I see the exact same situation this year. Beat the best to be the best!

How are they are the worst? The struggle stopping the run and the OL is their weak area.....sounds like we should have a couple huge advantages

For some reason I have a good gut feeling about beating Ohio State despite the road woes. But it’ll be rough to beat Oregon the next week right after that high imo

...is beat Ohio State, then whup Oregon, then destroy Texas, then beat Georgia in a rematch. Weren't every one of those fellas ranked #1 or #2 at some point this season?

Easy peasy. Let's get rollin'.

Oh, and if any of those likely opponents were to cough up a hairball and die before getting to us, let it be Georgia. I'm just tired of seeing them on a football field. Maybe ND can take them out.

Go Vols!

EDIT: It is entirely possible our path is the most challenging in the entire bracket.

Do this: imagine every team's path, assuming (a) that team wins each round, and otherwise (b) chalk holds.

Example: Clemson plays Texas, then Arizona State, then Oregon, then Georgia. Easier than ours, by an Ohio State trade for an Arizona State.
Example: SMU plays Penn St, then Boise St, then UGa, then Oregon. Much easier than ours.
Example: Indiana plays ND, then UGa, then Penn St, then Oregon. Easier than ours.

Yah, I don't think there's a tougher path than ours. I don't think anyone else plays a full series of opponents who spent part of the season at #1 or #2.

Go Vols!

EDIT #2: I added a poll, which is germane to this conversation. How far you think we'll get? I'm thinking this: the highest we were ranked during the season was #4. If we can get to the final four, I think that would be a nice validation on a great season. And it would mean we beat 2 of the 3 #1/#2 ranked teams in the country, to finish it off. That'd be pretty darn good.
I keep seeing comments on here about how Penn State is over rated. I watched the Oregon-PSU game last night, and I think people are underestimating Penn State. They are a very good football team, and could have easily beat Oregon.

I had to go find where I posted this, a couple of words were missing in the first post.
Could have somehow was left out of my post.

Run to the storm
Yup. Too much crying about it in other threads. If we want to be the man, we gotta beat the man. Embrace the suck, get comfortable being uncomfortable, live up to being Volunteers. Live the Maxims, make the General proud!
Run TO the storm. If we lose, we lose but we don't need to be whining
