I don't like the Basilio hate. He's a friend of mine and he does have some good sources. Has been correct alot in the last few seasons. Hopefully though not this opt out thing. He's absolutely all VOL.
He's the only one I listen to. I cant stomach state run radio and even though I think Tony would kill it on YouTube, its nice to tune in without having to hear "subscribe, hit the like button, tweet this out, send us a superchat, etc".

If I was Hyatt, i would go get a big Lloyds of London insurance policy, then go play another game with my buds in orange.

That’s not how Loyds of London works. They don’t ensure torn ACLs. If you tear your ACL, you can still find work outside of the NFL. You’ll get nothing from L of London. However, if you suffer a neck injury and become paralyzed and can’t find work outside of football, they’ll pay out.

He has people from the program that writes on his blog. He has his sources, he's also on a radio station. He has alot of expert guests on from different media outlets. His show is definitely gotten better over time. He's not going to hang up in callers that question the coach or program.
Apparently, I'm not the only one who doesn't listen. For years, he had to buy time on radio stations and even then, he wasn't able to stay on the air. I'm assuming if he is still on the air, he is online only?

I tried to listen 15-20 years ago, but it was the same 8-10 callers who called in every day and there was never any real insight or expert opinions on anything. Small Mike was the smartest caller and he was just trolling Basilio every day.

Can Tony not get credentials to actually cover press conferences or get access to any players, coaches, or anyone who actually knows what is going on?
Tony doesn't get credentials to pressers or players/coaches. He isn't a suck up and doesn't push the university's narrative. He isn't a sheep like the rest of the Knoxville media. I enjoy it and the post game shows. Any guy that gets on-air at 7 and stays on until 3 am on a Sunday morning gets my respect. He's a machine, and I don't see any others in the media doing it. Not to mention Tony V is always on the show.

When on the field National Championship games were first proposed, everyone was warned what would happen to the bowls. I thought the old poll-generated championship controversies were actually interesting and often amusing. The playoff system has provided little in the way of eliminating controversy and I find that I actually miss the bowl games as they used to be played.

Now, get off my grass and Go Vols!
I’m with you Lurker.

Yeah, Tony V and the soccer coach is on a lot. I'm sure the state won't allow Josh to get on. TB doesn't need any credentials, he probably wouldn't go anyways

I wonder if his or really anyone else’s NIL deals would effect a players decision.

It’s not supposed to be contingent on playing. Getting paid is based on being a spokesperson for a business in some capacity. Whether that is showing up for special events or posting on Social Media. More or less for being a celebrity or “influencer”.

For example, Nike doesn’t pay Lebron James for playing bball. They pay him to slap his name on products to lure gullible fans into buying their products.

The part about not going to press conferences because he wasn't a sheep has never made sense to me. I do wonder if he is not able to get those credentials. If he is doing shows that long after games, I will give him credit for that. Also, as I said, he has made a living doing this for over 20 years on small stations, online, etc so he is persistent. The other thing I will say, his dozens of listeners are very loyal and quick to defend him.

Is he on a station now? If so, where is it and what times is it on? I'll give him another listen.

Maybe true, maybe not true. A Google search brings up cases of Ekpre-Olomu, Marqise (Marquise?) Lee, etc. and their pay-outs involving knee injuries. Some schools even paid for the Lloyds policies (Jameis Winston). I'm no expert, but this a thing that high draft potential recruits have done in the past.

I don’t know what the current requirements are for getting a press credential, but I do have a story. I was a teenager working in the mailroom of a small town newspaper many years ago, with a few other boys my age. We asked one of the only two reporters we had on staff, a hippie fellow who covered the local high school teams, if he had a UT press credential. He told us that he applied for them on an as needed basis, and had only done so once. So a couple of us got the idea that we would apply for an upcoming game. He showed us how, and we applied. We didn’t get any formal credentials, but we were told that our names would be on a list at a particular location at the stadium on gameday. And sure enough, they were. Bud Ford was the gatekeeper for this operation, and he was extremely incredulous about our official capacity with a news organization. He did let us in though, and we were allowed in the press room after the game. If there are tighter restrictions on how this process works nowadays, it probably has a lot to do with Bud Ford having a bunch of angry meetings about having to let two high school kids in, with not even so much as a camera or a pen and paper, because of lax criteria.

Correct.
This is the kind of insurance college football players can get to fall back if they suffer major injuries during a bowl game.
They are called a loss-of-value insurance policy to protect future earnings.

There is definitely loss of draft potential insurance out there for elite players. If your friend's Dad didn't know it, he probably wasn't an early round pick (and that's not a slight at all, anyone who makes the league is an elite athlete.)

There was discussion when Tua got hurt and had opted only for the insurance Bama provided and not a loss of draft potential policy.

I kind of get what you are saying but I much rather help an individual out by liking subscribing and sharing because that is the quickest way around the stupid YouTube algorithm unless you are Mr Beast

I guess I'm too much of an old fart but it feels like virtual panhandling to me.
