So do we have to...?

Villanova winning didn't help. Need La Salle, Iowa st, UVA to lose. Oregon wouldn't hurt. Baylor is behind us IMO. Ole piss and KY losing early and I think we are good. And Boise losing tonight would put us ahead

Random thought No. 2: If Boise St loses the late game to San Diego St, I'm dropping the Broncos and inserting Tennessee as final at-large.

Hey joe how about taking UVA out? Just a thought.

Boise losing last night is big, we need UVA to not go on a tear in their tourney...win 2 and we are pretty safe IMO.

I think if we can win three we make maybe a ten seed. If not we are a play in at 12

I'll take getting in but that's why I hope for a ten. But, we need to have others lose early like Boise for it to happen

Here is how I see it for Tennessee's chances and what they need to do in the SECT.

1) Win 2 SECT games and our chances for NCAA are 90%

2) Win 1 SECT game and our chances for NCAA are 30%

3) Win 0 SECT games and it off the the National Irrelevant Tournament (a.k.a. NIT)

Almost rather be a 12 than win the SECT and get an 8 or 9. U?

Um, no....

I'd love to get in the tourney at this point, but I would definitely prefer not to be one of the last 4 in and have to play one of the play-in games. I'll take an 11-seed.

The projected 7 seeds don't scare me much: Colorado State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, and Memphis.

But the 5 seeds that I'm seein are Pitt., Syr., Saint Louis, and Wisc. I see us puttin it on 3 out of 4 of these teams.

Well thankfully we won't have to find out, because if we get in we won't have to play a 5 seed.

However, I don't think we'd put it to any one of those teams.

If we're a 12, we would play a 6 seed, who are now projected to be: UNLV, UCLA, Butler, and VCU. These teams are on a completely different tier than those 5s. VCU is probably the best of the lot. I'd take a 6-12 matchup with Butler anyday. UCLA too.

Give me all those teams too, if we're playin well. Agree. VCU would be the toughest. Would be nice to spank UCLA too.

Ignorant question here I'm sure, but how exactly do the 12's play the 6's? The mock brackets I've been seeing have the 12's still playin the 5's?

Yikes... You're right. I had a total brain fart.

For strictly NCAA tourney purposes, yes, but in general I completely disagree.

How long has it been since UT won the SEC tourney in basketball? A VERY long time. That would be a great accomplishment for this team and something to hang our hats on since likelihood of making a deep NCAA tourney run is low.

Ouch! 22 wins, sec tourney runner-up, one of the hottest teams in the country...I would think we could squeeze out an 8....and with some help possibly a 7.

Just curious... why would our chances of a deep run in the NCAA tourney be low???

Look, if we win just one game we "shouldnt" (UF, which I think we should), we will be in the final vs UK or Mizzou. WE CAN WIN THIS! Whats our seed then?

You think we should beat Florida?

I know they are the "one", but they are playing like anything but. So sure, I think the hot team on a roll and playing their best ball of the season beats the slumping team with no clutch shooters that peaked early. The 7 plus minute drought the Gators ended the UK game with would scare me pretty good if I was a gator fan, especialy if I had to play UT right about now. But its basketball, so anything could happen. If we do beat them (assuming we get that far), we would be locked. What seed would you think we could get then or if we won the final against UK/Mizzou? 22-23 w's, hot, good rpi, etc. I, for one, think UT COULD be a sweet 16 team with some good bracket placement.

Could ≠ Should

If we win the SECT I think we would get a 7 seed.
