its such a strange way to look at things.
He could win this game, and things still go off the rails. Hell, he could win the first 10 games this season but all the while be nursing a budding drug habit that he loses control of and end up nosediving the rest of his career.

generational coaches are something that become evident after a sufficient body of work exists, and at the university of tennessee the requirement for that includes winning the SEC and competing for national titles.

We wont know til we know
Stop using common sense!

A W in Gainesville keeps him on the path, however the Legion 🥁 Corps stays at the ready....ever vigilant

Dude is high.

Florida, so far, doesn’t look that impressive. Should win. Expect to win.

I agree with this. However, at this point I feel comfortable saying he is a good coach and the best we have had since Fulmer.

I remember when he was hired. I txted a buddy of mine. I was excited because we were goin to have an exciting Offense to watch. When i came to the forum to see other people's thoughts i was so dissapointed. Not at the hire but how most of you acted. But now look at you!! Finally coming around :)

I think beating your rival no matter how bad on their home field is a big win,but I don't think it proves anything with this Florida team. However,if UT can go into Alabama and/or at home against Georgia and come out winning, it will get people talking. They can't afford any slip ups though like South Carolina where they don't show up defensively.

Two ways I look at this game:

Tennessee wins - CJH wins games that’s he’s supposed to most of the time and that means Tennessee 100% has the right guy and the future is very bright.

Tennessee loses - obviously Milton played like sheet and it’s kind of a transitional year to get to better quarterback. We get monkey stomped and I’m questioning if we will ever be elite again. I just don’t think Milton should have a long leash and let us have another typical Tennessee year.

Heupel has done and is doing all he can do and more. We've seen the development from first season to second. This boils down to execution by the players tomorrow. Hype knows how to coach. Only thing he can't do is run around out there throwing the ball to himself and catching it.

A coach doesn't become 'generational' off of any single game, it is a title that is earned over a substantial period of time. Heupel will need to keep UT at an elite level, win some SEC championships, be a consistent playoff team, and compete semi-regularly for national championships to ever be considered 'generational'. I mean, aside from Saban, who is a generational coach right now? I guess Smart, but he needs to do this for a few more years.

Having said that, win or lose tomorrow, I have full faith in Heupel as the guy to take Tennessee to that elite level and keep us there. Remember, it's really only year two that he has been able to really recruit, so this thing is still in its infancy.

He sold me as a really good coach last season.

Time will tell if he is generational.

I usually define that by competing for and winning championships ( which I think he is very capable of doing looking at the recruiting and talent he is bringing in).

That’s quite an extreme range assigned to a single game.

He hasn't won anything yet, not even the division soooooo, no? Beating rivals is only the beginning, you gotta win something big.
