SEC College Football Power Rankings: Week 5 - ESPN

The Vols just can't seem to break through. They put together another gritty performance on the road at Georgia, and had quarterback Justin Worley not missed time due to injury, they might have knocked off the Dawgs. Instead, it was another close loss. They get a struggling Florida team next.

Having said that, they have us #3 in the East behind UGA and Mizzou. That's a pretty weak limb they're stepping out on.

But I like it. :) GO VOLS!!!!

I've made a lot of excuses these past six years, but I honestly think if Worley didn't miss that quarter we win by two scores. Georgia's offense was stagnant and our defense played great, the only problem was our offense was sputtering for an entire quarter.

I agree with the weak limb, but I really think we have played the 2 best teams we will face this year. Oklahoma was the most physically dominating team we will face and UGA is loaded with talent at all positions. I realize Bama is right up there as well, but Blake Simms doesn't put the fear in me like Splitter and Gourley. GBO.

I think 3 in the east is all you can ask for given we haven't beaten anyone yet.

Play the schedule and the rest will work out.

SC is like the steelers. Big game when not favored they ball out (UGA). When favored they play like crap (Mizzou, Vandy, & TxA&M). I know they beat Vandy but giving up 2 TDs on kickoff returns and letting Vandy be that close. I don't know what to say about the Mizzou game.

On a tennessee note I think that's pretty accurate. Mizzou is a good team who just didn't show up enough for Indiana. UGA beat us so that's obvious but we played them close. I think UF game will be another measuring rod on how far we have developed as a team.

Good thing that we catch USCjr. and Mizzou late in the season. Our team will be even more developed and hopefully firing on all cylinders so that we can make a run at #2 in the East

We beat Florida, get that good mojo going we could make a run for the east. Georgia will lose again I'm almost certain and the rest of our schedule is filled with very winnable games. Bama being the lone exception, but hey you never know what could happen.

We don't have to beat Bama to win the East though. If we win out the rest of our East games and Georgia loses one more East game........we win the East.

only if UGA loses another East game. UGA with 1 East and 1 West loss would win the tie with Tenn with 1 East and 1 West.

On college game wrap-up, the analysts said the East winner will have 3 SEC losses. We have a chance...

I LOVE how we've gone from talks of "just make it to a bowl" to talks of winning the East.

Gotta love the improvement we're seeing. It's going to all click soon. I hope as soon as Saturday. There's blood in the water. Hopefully Butch has recruited some sharks.

I'm more worried about injuries at that point rather than team development.

And I don't trust Spurrier not to have a few tricks left up his sleeve either.

Fair enough, but you have to apply it both ways. However, I believe I understand what you mean because an injury to Worley would be much more detrimental to us than any injury to Mizzou or USCjr.
