So....Georgia wins the East now?

UF
2-3 right now
UGA, Vandy, USC remaining

UGA
4-1 right now
Kentucky, UF, Aub remaining

USC
4-1 right now
Tenn, Arkansas, UF remaining

Depending on Lattimore's status, USC might have a very tough time with all three of those opponents. If UGA can beat either UF or Aub, they'll probably be in Atlanta. Long term, could be a great thing if it buys Richt several more years.

or it could just serve as an equivalent of fulmer's 2007, give him another year unless they drop right back down to 6-7 again

Thinking this now:

Georgia goes 7-1 (9-3/10-2 overall depending on the Georgia Tech game) and wins the East.
South Carolina goes 5-3/6-2 (Tennessee is now a toss-up) by losing to Arkansas and maybe UT. Still think they'll nip Florida in Columbia, though. If all Florida can manage against Auburn is six points...
Florida goes 3-5. It's just not their time yet. Florida's offense could be featured in one of those really terrible horror movies everyone loves and the schedule does them no favors.

They deserve to win the east for no reason other than getting to play LSU or Bama. Nobody should get to skip out on that.

It's luck of the draw. You can draw the three best teams in the West like we did or the three worst like Georgia.

Teams change every year, but it would be nice to have Ole Miss and Miss State in same year.

UGA drew 4th, 5th, 6th West teams
UF drew 1st, 2nd, 4th West teams
USC drew 3rd, 4th, 6th West teams
UT drew 1st, 2nd, 3rd West teams

UF lost 1st and 2nd QB
USC lost 1st QB 1 RB
UT lost 1st QB and 1st WR

If UGA doesn't win it they absolutely should fire Richt.

Corrected your post. They couldn't beat the worst UF team in the last 20 years, a year ago.

If UGA can't beat the worst UF team in 30 years, Richt doesn't deserve to be HC.

CMR is the man that I want representing our football program.

I know what we get with him, but I also know what we will not get with him.

Fans only look at W's and L's, and I can understand that, but the wrong HC can also destroy a football program. Like I said, I know what we get with CMR and I hope he stays for a long time. Our players/recruits love him and bust their tails for him, they know his job is on the line and they are playing for him. Many teams could have given up after the 0-2 start but our boys stuck together and have played well lately.

Ditto!

they aren't the best team in the east, unless Muschamp really is a buffoon.

I said early that UF would win it and they will. I don't think anyone in the East will beat UF.

UF is still in it but unless they have a QB and Demps back this week full speed... I think UGA backs into it.
UGA really is the best team in the East right now and probably are even when UF was at full strength... but UGA's coaching staff is the great equalizer.

I hope they UGA does win it then gets hammered in the championship game. Winning the East probably keeps Richt in place for a couple of more years. That should help UT in recruiting and on the field when the roster bulks up.

Besides that.... I really hate UF.

I just can't agree with that.

As for Hunter being back and you being undefeated, I think that's ridiculous. Having Hunter back doesn't fix the run game.

Actually having Bray/Hunter out may fix the running game. The run blocking looked almost credible vs LSU. The backs ran decent. There were finally signs of life.

I think there are two factors in that. One, the guys know the "Easy" button isn't there anymore. They can't go 3rd and 14 and have Bray drill it in for a first down....or have him throw it over the coverage. Two, the coaching staff no longer has to decide how to divide preparation reps/focus. Before when gameplanning they had to spend much more time on the passing game since that was their best chance to win. Now... the running game is their ONLY chance to win.

While none of what UT has experienced is good or desirable, one possible positive is that the run game development will be accelerated.

And it isn't just Hunter that helps UT's chances of doing well next fall. The OOC schedule is "light". IIRC, NCSU will be the toughest game. As it stands right now, UT will lose two players from the offensive 2-deep after this year: Simms and Poole. They'll lose 5 from the first 22 on D. Starters: Johnson, Jackson, Martin (if you count him)... and backups Vereen and Johnson.

This is a talented team taking some hard lumps right now with all most ALL of its best players returning.

Not to mention UT and UF losing their respective JJs.

And Lathers.

With the loss of Lattimore, UGA clearly the front-runner for the East. Interestingly enough, UF is still in control of it's own destiny though.

UGA I believe wins the east...But the beating they will take in the SEC title game will be legendary.

technically UF does to a degree; however UF (1-3) still would need for USCe and UGA to lose another sec game, other than the one that they play against each

It really is more of a south Carolina currently controls its own destiny

True, bad math on my part. Florida can hang an L on both, but then SCAR and UGA would still only have 2 losses.

let Ga win the east. I solidifies Richt as their coach which is something every team in the east can benefit from.

You do realize that CMR has a winning record against everybody in the East except for UF. I could see why the UF fans would want CMR to hang around, I don't understand that argument from everybody else who plays in the East.:p
