Putting aside the veracity of the Gruden info, if you believe the rumblings Tennessee is down to three or two.

So what happens if Gundy and Strong stay put?

I'm not one for conspiracy theories but there is .0001% of me that wonders if Hart's just setting the stage for Kirby Smart.

While I really don't think this would happen... it will always be on the back of my mind until we hire someone else.

I think Strong takes the job if offered. Not so sure about Grundy. It's hard to pull a coach away from their alma mater.

This:thumbsup:. Strong couldn't find the pen to sign the contract fast enough if offered the job. Gets him back into SEC as an HC at a "big name" program. I think we offer Gundy, with Strong second and Fedora last in case something crazy happens.

How do you know Hart is not getting his # 1 choice?

I don't. Read the first post again. It's entirely possible Strong is the first choice. Or someone else. Or even Gruden. Who knows?

Gundy to Arkansas seems done. If so then he could have gotten wind UT sealed the deal with Strong. Or someone else.

Strong has all but said he's leaving Louisville. I wonder if he's just waiting to see if UT or Auburn make a better offer? So, I don't think we'll go any further down than that. And it seems like he's at the top of Hart's list for some reason, so it while we as fans may be settling, it doesn't look like Hart is. He's not interested in trying to land anyone better.

I guess UT may have made a better offer because Auburn is dealing with Kirby Smart....

If we went any farther down, we would have kept dooley. And hart does not seem to care if we get anyone who will be even competitive with the big boys. Thanks bama dave.

It is now being reported Gundy has not been hired by Arky.

Not likely, since Smart does not have previous experience as a head coach. Hart is on record as to saying HC experience is a threshold requirement in order to be considered for the position.

I am not going to make a thread about this because it is too crazy, but what about Fulmer for 2 yrs and he grooms Tee Martin to take over after that. I know, crazy but we would save $ and have true VFL's stearing the program.

We will go all the way to the bottom and then hart will tell us how great and what a "home run" hire he is, and that he was our #1 choice from the beginning.

Its either going to be Strong or Fedora, simple as that

We don't really know who Hart is talking to. All we are getting is rumors.

We may all be in for a shock the day of the announcement.

There appears to be a smokescreen at every turn.

I feel more like a meth head who has been up for a week straight, reading the posts, all of the reports and rumors and just waiting for someone to accept the football HC job at Tennessee.:banghead2:

Just remind yourself that no UT coaching hire will affect your personal life one iota. It's a game that we watch for entertainment. Nothing more. I've gotten past letting things like this affect me. Life is too short.
