So Legendary Coach Pat Summit was forced out...

Haven't heard anything on this. She seems the type where it would be more of a family decision. Can we get a link or some type of credible source please?

That is as sensitive a subject as there is on this board. If you don't have some proof then God have mercy on your soul.

vlt8 News reported that a lawsuit by some individual in the athletic department (can't remember who they said) was fired because of insubordination when she challenged Hart's decision to force Summit out....apparently this individual says Hart told Summit she would not be returning to coach the Lady Vols right before Summit left for Chicago last year in the Tourney.

There has not been a better ambassador to this state than Pat Summit. I have a hard time believing this is true, but then again Hart is not a "UT" guy. This would be one of the biggest and saddest atrocities in sports history if true. This would be very wicked in spirit and there is no explaining the utter ridiculousness of such a decision. Would he be concerned about the future play of lady Vols? An ill Summit would beat the hell out of her replacement. It is a very sad situation in general, for I envisioned her being UT's coach for decades to come. Truly everything has CHANGED at UT with the departure of Summit. She was our last thread and now it is gone. If this comes out to be true DAVE HART SHOULD BE TERMINATED THAT VERY DAY and there should be a RIOT (peaceful of course) immediately.

I have a hard time believing that this could be true, but if it does turn out to be true then Hart would have to go... But I will try to restrain from passing judgement untill the facts come out.

I agree with you for now. It will have to be demanded that he immediately be terminated if true. That would seriously be the craziest and saddest atrocity of all sports in history. there would be absolutely no justification for such a decision. That would be hart putting himself above University of Tennessee and would only be explained be a personal "beef" or something. His integrity (or lack there of....) would seriously have to be dealt with. Pat has lived, bled, breathed UT and we OWE her, OWE her!!!!!!!!! She has enough class though to go out like a champ that is for sure!!!!

That is just stupid, Pat was great for TN, But all good things come to an end, No need to run the women's BB program into the ground, like what happened to the Football program, before you make a change. Pat needs to worry about her final stage in life, and I hope it is a long and healthy one.

You sir or lady are wrong! there is no way forcing her out would be the decision to make! If this comes out to be true you will find yourself in a very small minority and there will be major repercussions from donors and other alum if true. Just wait!

You are speculating and no I'm not. Dave Hart isn't a damn doctor. If the decision was Pat's because of her health i agree with her. She knows best for her and UT. If the decision was Harts because he THINKS he knows she can't go on, how the hell does he know? I am of the opinion that this is BS but I'm responding to the OP stating Pat was FORCED out. I am totally 100% against her being FORCED out! Some things in life still deserve a little freaking decency.........

lol...This is the wonderful round-and-round debate revived from several months ago about an individual being faithful to the University versus an individual being faithful to a Coach....so very glad we get to hear this again :pinch:

regardless, you don't "wish someone the best" by kickin her to the curb from the one thing she's done for 30+ years. :p

Sorry gang. Pat had a contract. Hart would not have the authority to terminate her without BOT approval. UT attorneys would have reviewed any recommendation to make sure a stipulation or covenant of the contract was violated or not otherwise met in terms of performance issues.

This is just drama from Jennings to try to cause Hart some pain to make a money grab. That's what it always comes down to - follow the money.

Or you can play the conspiracy theory with her and look like an idiot.

I like your take on this. For both Pat's and Hart's sake I hope this is all that it is.

Contracts have clauses regarding health and the ability to carry out job duties based on health.

If you read the suit, the "conspiracy theory" is based on a conversation she had with Summitt, a conversation that was apparently witnessed by others.
