I've seen Tee Martin (NC winning QB called Benedict Arnold.

The bashing of a HOF coach.

The bashing of the new coach an hour after he was hired.

Justin Hunter now is a big dissapointment.

BUT, We love, love, love John Gruden the man who was probably offered the moon and said no.

Ever seen a really bratty child being told no by a weak minded parent in the check out line?

Many here remind me of that. They want something that probably wouldn't have been good for them anyway and throw a big tantrum when told they can have something else that's better if they'll just be patient.

I had a friend once tell me if you want to respect and like fellow fans don't listen to local sports radio or read their posts on message boards.

The Gruden mania was unbelievable. He might have helped recruiting short term, but I was in Tampa when Bucs fans were running him out of town. He was almost Fulmeresque when he started with a Super Bowl win and let the program slide downhill from there. One of the big problems with him was he wanted to go with over the hill veterans and wouldn't develop young talent. That is not what is needed for a college team.

To his credit, he recognizes this and knows he will probably never coach a college team. He is an NFL guy, has a great job and I don't believe he wants to get into the nitty gritty of coaching college kids.

This is a result of two things: 1. Losing 2. Losing with little hope or confidence that one will stop losing.

Win and most, if not all sins are forgiven.

Someone call the waaaaaaambulance.

Another thread bashing UT fans. Can we merge all these, Mods?

Then we would only have about 5 threads in each forum and that would be sad and we would gripe and complain about THAT and blame kiffy, dooley, hart, fulmer or cheek.
Then we would say if we had gotten Gruden we would have a more respectable competitive number of threads.
Then we would check out the basketball forum again and realize that they don't like us either.
Then we would have ANOTHER drink.
Then we would each start a new thread to complain.

Then there would be LOTS of threads again and Somebody like me or some Mystery Poster would ask the Mods to Merge again.

...........Then we would only have about 5 threads in each forum.

As a fan that supports the hiring of Butch Jones i wish everyone on here would just get on board and support our new coach. He wants to be at Tennessee and calls this his dream job.I think he is driven to get Tennessee back on track.

I think the Tee thing is more that it didn't pass the smell test. The biggest concern to me in all of this is the fact that Tee has a child here. As a parent, this opportunity would take HUGE precedence.

I don't think Tee loaded up his whole family for the trip so he could then talk about loyalty and finishing what he started. He said he was serious and the fact that the interview was on campus and with his family tells me his 'loyalty' to Lane is a bunch of bunk.

I see a few options and all are bad.
-Tee had genuine interest in the job, and UT screwed something up. Either UT really didn't intend to make a serious $$ offer to Tee and he felt insulted, or UT didn't do their research before making an offer.
-Tee doesn't care that much that he has a child here, and would place the high profile job and pay above those things. (again, just speculating.) As a parent, I'd take a pay cut. I'd do whatever the hell I had to, to be near my child and have an active role in their life.
-The least concerning would be Tee's current contract had a large buyout and the two sides couldn't negotiate an agreeable outcome.

I could be missing something, but folks something stinks. I don't care how great a job he has. Either the guy puts the role of parent below his job, or UT screwed this thing up.
