This is a result of two things: 1. Losing 2. Losing with little hope or confidence that one will stop losing.

Win and most, if not all sins are forgiven.

This....... Why is so hard for people to understand we r fans because we like to win n its all about winning.. Not winning just suxs.. It suxs n life n war n when the team u love does it..

Vol land suxs n this was our chance to have hope n im not sure this hire restores that..

Because I have a life, and even though I love the Vols, they do not overpower my life. If they lose, my life continues to go on, it's why I don't drink. I don't need to drink to watch the Vols. Most of you are all alcoholics if you always have to drink to watch football.

Butch Jones was not on my radar, but like a fan that believes in this program, I will get behind him until he screws it all up (I was behind Kiffin and Dooley as well). Unlike most people I will not call or say something derogatory about a coach. I know I couldn't coach on this level, and neither could any of the idiots that post on this forum. I also won't say anything about someones weight especially since that man is a HOF coach who has won two SEC championships and a national title, and had one of the best winning pct. Again the idiots on this board couldn't sniff his jock. So no, Vol Land doesn't suck just because we're not winning. We have a bunch of grown ass men hanging on to the word of 18-22 year college students, acting like they are gods gift to us. Sorry I have my priorities pretty straight.

I think the Tee thing is more that it didn't pass the smell test. The biggest concern to me in all of this is the fact that Tee has a child here. As a parent, this opportunity would take HUGE precedence.

I don't think Tee loaded up his whole family for the trip so he could then talk about loyalty and finishing what he started. He said he was serious and the fact that the interview was on campus and with his family tells me his 'loyalty' to Lane is a bunch of bunk.

I see a few options and all are bad.
-Tee had genuine interest in the job, and UT screwed something up. Either UT really didn't intend to make a serious $$ offer to Tee and he felt insulted, or UT didn't do their research before making an offer.
-Tee doesn't care that much that he has a child here, and would place the high profile job and pay above those things. (again, just speculating.) As a parent, I'd take a pay cut. I'd do whatever the hell I had to, to be near my child and have an active role in their life.
-The least concerning would be Tee's current contract had a large buyout and the two sides couldn't negotiate an agreeable outcome.

I could be missing something, but folks something stinks. I don't care how great a job he has. Either the guy puts the role of parent below his job, or UT screwed this thing up.

None of what you say is true. USC made a better offer.

Because my random opinion on an anonymous message board at the top of the football forum SHOULD matter to you, duh

I've seen Tee Martin (NC winning QB called Benedict Arnold.

The bashing of a HOF coach.

The bashing of the new coach an hour after he was hired.

Justin Hunter now is a big dissapointment.

BUT, We love, love, love John Gruden the man who was probably offered the moon and said no.

:ermm:

Butt, I'v heard Gruden owns land in East TN?? :mf_surrender:

The Gruden mania was unbelievable. He might have helped recruiting short term, but I was in Tampa when Bucs fans were running him out of town. He was almost Fulmeresque when he started with a Super Bowl win and let the program slide downhill from there. One of the big problems with him was he wanted to go with over the hill veterans and wouldn't develop young talent. That is not what is needed for a college team.

To his credit, he recognizes this and knows he will probably never coach a college team. He is an NFL guy, has a great job and I don't believe he wants to get into the nitty gritty of coaching college kids.

He didn't want to go with over the hill veterans, the bucs gave up draft picks to get him and he was never able to build with a franchise QB because of this... not saying he would be great, but you're under selling him, he was the last good HC at both the Raiders and the Bucs.
