So much for Golesh to UF

Keep an eye on the USF/Miami game. If Alex gets that upset plus Billy fired...I could definitely see it coming to fruition. I'd hate it but it would be a good hire.

Florida needs to first replace their AD. No one on their Board of Trustees would trust Stricklin to make the next hire after being spectacularly wrong on Napier. In the ideal world, the university president would be involved in the AD situation but their current president is interim and doesn’t want to get involved. So, Step 1 is the Board firing Stricklin and naming his replacement. I think this goes down in the next month. Late in the season, Napier is let go. This season and UF recruiting is toast right now.

who in the playoffs would leave their team to go coach Florida since the early signing/transfer portal is before the season ends?
The way things are scheduled means hiring a top coach (who is likely in the playoff) probably means your recruiting is going to be a mess in the transition year.

I was having a bourbon at the bar after a round at the Honors course last weekend. Ran into MIT_Beaver. Impressive how connected that guy is.

He told me Florida had put together a big enough package that they will be able to coax Saban out of retirement. Said it’s getting close to being done.
Does Saban really have enough good health years left to attempt to resurrect a program from a dumpster fire? I thought he was looking really old his last year at bama.

What does Saban have to prove in FL that he couldn't have proven staying at Bama?

He could do nothing but screw up his legacy by taking the Florida job. People talk about ceiling. Is the ceiling in Gainesville higher than the ceiling in Tuscaloosa?

Saban wouldn’t be stupid enough to take the Florida job.

If that’s the case, then he should have stayed with Bama.

FLA will throw stupid money at Kiffin. After that, Golesh could be in the second tier of coaches they interview.

Why not kick the tires on Matt Rhule. He’d could bring in that Mahomes clone with him.
MASSIVE buyout. Like a $62 million buyout. On top of that, you have Napier with a $25 million buyout. Nobody outside of one of the Texas schools are that crazy.

Miss State is reaping the rewards of firing Arnett after a bad season when he replaced a deceased legend. I hope they go 3-9
Why you hate ,bro.Wife is a State alum. They were never keeping Arnett. They gave him a chance. Prove it kind of deal It was basically a season long interm. My life is better when State is decent.

From my understanding, Kiffin to UF would be a long shot because of portal issues.

Assuming they don’t implode, Ole Miss has a chance to be in the playoffs.
There will be a one time portal this year before the playoffs begin, so if they fire Napier at UF, a bunch of the roster will jump in the portal, and a coach in the playoffs would be very unlikely to leave his team during the playoffs. So, if hired, he would inherit a depleted roster and no portal; he would only have the spring to recruit and then pick up JUCO and Grad students.

Logistically, it doesn’t work with Kiff

Smart money says Kiffin becomes gatas head coach. That would be bad news for us.
Or at least gets Ole Miss to add a few million to his contract…

Florida fans expect to win championships - Ole Miss fans are just happy to be winning. Much less pressure at Ole Miss.

Unless Ole Miss doesn't make the playoff, I cannot see a way for Kiffin being the next Gators coach. Although I am sure he will troll everyone on twitter/X with pictures of the Gainesville airport or some private plane or some other gator reference, because that is what he does.

Before last January, I would have thought Jedd Fisch going back to his alma mater would have made sense. His move to Washington, instead of staying one more year at Arizona, surprised me. I believe his buyout at Washington is $10M.
