So to get a coach fired today

Know what I honestly think? I think the player is a big pu$$y douche who dogged it in practice and cried to mommy and daddy when things didn't go his way. If the guy was a real football player he would've grew a pair, did what the coached asked him to do, and tried to get better. Instead he went boo hooing to mommy and daddy and got his coach fired. I say take the football away from this kid and get him an effin' apron!

What's next? Army recruits crying to their Mommy's that army life is too tough and trying to get their drill sergeant dishonorably discharged for being too rough on him??

If people ONLY knew some of the things my coaches did when I played sports!

recruits now have a stress card...
they keep it in there pocket and if the Drill Sergeant's putting to much heat on 'em, they can pull it out and the Drill Sergeant backs off

:eek:lol: If that's for real then god help us all!! Part of the weeding out process in the military is finding out who is not mentally tough enough to handle it! Do they think a foreign enemy is going to give a **** if they pull out a "stress card?!?"

When the player refused to take off his sunglasses, etc Leach should have dismissed him and told him to go clean out his locker. That would have been the professional way to handle it, what Leach did was juvenile. But as the story comes out, there was more to Leach be fired then just this incident.

Maybe but that was not grounds for dismissal. I'm telling you this was 100% a political play because of bad relationship between Leach and the AD and who the boy's father is and who he works for!

Kid sounds like someone we've all played sports with. I doubt the kid had a real concussion and the diagnosis for a slight concussion is not as much of an examination, per se. Doctor just asks some questions and does some tests. Most of which can be faked. The fact that his father harps on the "concussion" during all of his interviews is just playing on the recent hoopla that concussions are getting in the NFL and College football (Roethleisburger and Tebow). In his father's first interview he said that he did not act on the information until after the first time his son was "secluded" which tells me that he knows his son is has a tendency to exxagerate things.

I would say that TT got rid of the wrong person. A lot of former players and coaches have talked about his untouchable attitude. James is just another spoiled rich kid. He sucks as a football player. No other team offered him a D1 scholly. His dad got him his scholly at TT. Without that, he would be nothing. He wasnt even good enough to play for Gas Pump U.

Ahhh, the things people take at face value nowadays.

snopes.com: Stress Card

on topic: There's quite a bit of conflicting information out in the media, so I'll reserve judgement for now. TTU was just looking for any excuse to get rid of Leach, and this just happened to be a convenient way to do that.

In case there weren't enough other things to make a coach walk on eggshells already...

The problems come when there's some combination of the following:
1) Whiny parents who don't realize that, although their kid may have been first-team All-State, he's not guaranteed playing time over OTHER kids who were ALSO first-team All-State
2) Various educators who have zero ability to differentiate between actual dangerous behavior and standard disciplinary practices
3) Dean Wurmer types who would run down anything the athletic department would do because "We're all here for school, not to throw a ball"
4) An overly agenda-driven media

The Big 12 has had quite the interesting offseason so far. Kansas and TT lose their coach but Colorado kept theirs? I guess as long as we have Gundy reminding us that he is a man and he is 40 we will be ok...

ESPN has been extremely biased in the reporting...

I think Leach is going to win big time, and if things are shaping up like it looks like, I hope somehow Craig James gets fired from ESPN and ends up calling UFL games on Versus.

Leach will probbaly get a big settlement, but won't get his job back,
As much as it would be right for Craig James to get fired, he won't

James probably is worthless, but the way Leach handled it wasn't very smart. He just handed the TT adminstration the rope that they had been wanting to use for awhile.

I was surprised that ESPN keeps running the part of Leach's interview where Leach said that Craig's interference with the coaches and administration exceeded that of all other parents combined.

If they hadn't fired Leach for this incident, it would have been for something else.

It's obvious they were looking for an excuse to fire him now. It's made TT admin and James both look bad.

James tried to spin this in his espn interview, but it didn't work. His reputation has really been damaged. I bet ESPN doesn't renew his contract.

After seeing the Leach and James interviews on ESPN I completely agree with you.

I kind of hope they don't. It would be a fitting end. Leach is far from perfect and quite a weirdo but I agree they were just looking for an excuse to fire him and jumped on this.

While I won't say James was faking or didn't really have a concussion, he sure does seem like a spoiled little rich brat who's trying to live off of daddy's name. So by extension and using ESPN as his soapbox, I hope Craig James is gone from ESPN.
