So... We actually suck defensively?

That's why I don't get why people want this team to run the court. They cannot win that type of game, especially with the personnel that is out. Next year they may be able to run a little bit more, but this team absolutely cannot. They have to slow it down and grind it out, which they're getting pretty good at doing.

See, I thought that the whole damn time, but I was afraid to say anything. People saw us failing to score a lot of points, so they figured we should push. But when we do that, it leads to lots of easy buckets for our opponent and has yet to lead to a win for us.

We're just not that type of team. We have athletes (Richardson, McRae, Moore) who I could see thriving in that type of offense, but it'd have to be on a different type of team with different teammates. That style just does not fit the overall personnel.

I brought this up about a month ago, sometime after the ole miss and Memphis games. We have a roster IMO that half excel in running, and half really don't. Jarnell's game is not a high paced back and forth game, thats a good way for him to get tired and pick up cheap fouls.

Our best chance this year at wins is to slow the game down, make it ugly, and hope our shots are falling. One thing that's hurt us that we've improved the last 2 games is tunrovers. When playing such low possession games, each possession is more important than in a high possession game. Turning the ball over 20 times a game is horrible for as few of possessions as we play...we need to be under 12 and that's where we've been the last 2 games (oddly enough both resulted in wins). We also don't turn teams over, so when we turn it over 18-20 times and turn them over 10 times, that's a recipe for losing.

It's why free throws and turnovers are such am important stat for this team...we need every point we can get in a low possession game like we play, and performing bad in those 2 areas is giving away points.
