So what do you think about Iowa?

Has anyone noticed that the team we totally dominated in the TaxSlayer bowl quietly made the top 10?

I know they have not played anyone but they are still undefeated and in the top 10.

The AP Top 25 Poll | College Football

How did this happen? Are we cursed never again to be highly ranked? Did getting rid of a great man (notice I said man not coach) in Fulmer curse the program?

I am just frustrated because I look at the top 25 and I know we can beat some of those teams head to head.

I had a Memphis fan come up to me this morning and say "You know, Memphis beat Ole Miss, Ole Miss beat Bama, Bama beat Tennessee, Therefore Memphis is better than Tennessee." I am not Shi**ing you that is what he said. I just looked at him like he was crazy and said "we will play you anytime, anywhere."

Any of the ten teams behind them would roll their azz!

Shouldn't even be in the top 25 with that schedule.

I think that would be amusing. I'd let them know that despite how high they might get ranked UT would still kill them and that I have very recent proof of such.

I live a couple minutes from Kinnick. This is another one of Ferentz's mediocre teams overachieving due to an easy schedule. They beat Wisconsin and beatdown Northwestern but I don't view them as a real threat to anything and that includes winning the Big 10 title as I think whoever comes out of the other division will beat them. And as others here have said, I think Tennessee rolls over Iowa again if they were to play again. That was actually surprising though because Iowa shows up in bowl games usually. They've always played Florida, LSU, Texas etc. well even when they're 6-6 headed to bowl games. And they're like us in the sense that they travel well and college football is bigtime when it comes to fan support. Before the Titans and Grizzlies, Tennessee was the pro team of the state. Iowa's basically the same for the Hawkeyes with no pro teams in the state. There is also Iowa State at the college leave but ISU is more like Vandy in comparison to Iowa. So like Tennessee fans used to, Iowa fans have to branch out to nearby pro teams which makes Hawkeyes the team in the state. For pro teams, you see mostly Cubs/Cardinals, Packers/Bears/Vikings/Chiefs and Bulls. And I'm seeing lots of Royals bandwagon gear being worn all over. Same thing happened with Blackhawks for hockey when they started winning. The Royals, White Sox, Brewers, Rams, Bucks, Timberwolves and Blackhawks despite being just as nearby as the rest of the teams I listed, they don't have a following unless they're winning. People already chose to bandwagon the other teams that have history and tradition.

So yeah, think Iowa is mediocre and could easily have a couple losses on the season with their current schedule and would easily have a loss(es) if they played more than 1 or 2 above average teams.. They've pulled it out and are 7-0 which is cool for them and the fans but I'm not letting the fans around here sell me on their record being as impressive at it sounds. Memphis, Houston and Temple are all undefeated too. Memphis and Houston's schedule is already about on par with Iowa's. By the time Memphis plays Navy and goes on the road to Temple/Houston and Houston plays Notre Dame and Memphis, their resumes will be as good or better probably. Indiana, Minnesota and Nebraska could all beat Iowa in my opinion. Even Purdue has hung in against okay teams. Michigan State comes to mind as a team they almost beat. Watch Iowa lose to Maryland at home this weekend and Maryland sucks. For being 7-0 in a BCS conference, Iowa instills no fear in my opinion and only have the record due to a weak schedule.

That's not proof though, that's opinion based off last year. I agree with you and I think Tennessee would beat up on Iowa again but to use the past as proof of what will happen in the future, that's not proof... that's assumption. Teams lose rematches in the same season and we're talking about an entire year removed in between. All I'm saying is, if the U.S. goes to war with Germany, it doesn't mean it's guaranteed to win because you can cite world war 2 as a past example.

UT would easily beat Iowa and they would easily be undefeated with their schedule. Simple.

I though Northwestern ranked 13 was bat chit crazy, now we have an average Iowa team ranked 10. Laughable.

I think Iowa plays in the Fiesta Bowl against Utah if Stanford gets left out of the Playoffs and goes to the Rose Bowl.

The 2016 schedule isn't so easy for Iowa

Miami(Ohio)
Iowa State
North Dakota State
Rutgers
Northwestern
Minnesota
Purdue
Wisconsin
Penn State
Michigan
Illinois
Nebraska

I think Iowa goes 8-4 losing to North Dakota State,Wisconsin,Penn State and Michigan

Honestly as little as possible . James Tiberius Kirk is from there right ? So, they got that going for them . In football we would spank that behind Again .

C'mon guys, I grew up a Iowa and Tennessee fan. I'm just stoked with this 7-0 start. I'll admit that the schedule is pretty weak, but they have played some pretty good FB this season. It would be hard for the Hawkeyes to get a playoff spot, so I'm hoping for a Rose Bowl trip. But there's still a bunch of football to play this season. Go Vols & Hawks! Lol

I think it's funny to see how so many fans and media, that's so sore about Iowa being ranked. It's like everybody's mad at Iowa because their not the team that is ranked. I remember everyone throwing Ohio St under the bus saying their just good because of their weak schedule. Then all they did was run over Bama in the playoff, and then took Oregon to the wood shed!
