So what three star recruit TN signed in this class…

Morris is your prototypical Heupel RB at UT. Wright, Sampson, both speed backs rated 3 stars out of HS who significantly outplayed their initial ranking. Morris is basically the same style of runner as those two.

Why? Dylan Sampson vastly outplayed his ranking
I don’t think you all grasped the comment.

It doesn’t say Morris can’t outplay his ranking.
It doesn’t say Baker can’t outplay his ranking.

Unlikely that Morris AND Baker outplay their ranking.

That didn’t take a Nostradamus to make that assessment. Lol yes that’s HIGHLY most likely.
I played by the rules. Reach pick would be one of the Milton guys, let’s say Lewis, cause their was so little news about them from commitment to signing.

Timothy Merritt...I watched this kid play along side the #1 player(DB) in the state of GUMPS. He has the same tools...Niahim may be a step faster. QB went down mid season and Merritt step in and the team didn't miss a beat. Only loss came to #1 team in Georgia Carrolton.
Which was a competitive game for most of the game.

Agree with lots of folks pointing at Morris and House as potential steals as 3*s.

regarding Baker, I was not aware of much buzz for him .. but it could be coz he committed too early .. but good to hear that
Baker’s got solid speed (10.92 100m) and he’s a physical runner. His usage with Buford was head scratching as he was clearly better than the other options but they pretty much split carries evenly between three and sometimes four backs. Still rushed for over 1,000 yds and 14 TD’s. Running style reminds me of Jabari Small but he’s bigger than Small was coming out (5’10, 205) and a little faster.

Elite Recruits 5 star and high rated 4 stars aside 4 star and high 3 star kids to me are no different in watching tape. So it does come down to evaluation of staff does the kid have the drive inside to succeed and lastly stays healthy. For recruiting services the last 100 4 stars and highly rated 3 stars it's hard to put them in pecking order. Many of our 3 stars already mentioned how are they rated 3 not 4 is perfect example their film is every bit as good if not better than those in front of them on a list. We trust our coaches and again say we had a really good class this year. In CHRIST Alone

Reminds me more of John Kelly. Both have longer legs & strides than Small. And both are a little faster than Small.

This year it would probably be House or Dylan Lewis if anyone. We should be at a point now where only a handful of true freshman are in a position to make a major impact, outside of Sanders, Campbell, Dye, Smith, or Jackson. Long term I think it’s Daune Morris. He’s a unique talent and it’ll be interesting to see what he ends up being. I’d like to see them cross train him at RB and the slot so he could be motioned in and out of the backfield. He’s not really been too good in the NFL but Kadarius Toney was a bad dude in college, and they have very similar body types and skill sets

Wish that I were more confident that his sidestepping to shoot the gap running style will thrive in the SEC. Wright and Sampson both leaned into their moves with inertia and power.
