So which one is it?

Coach Barnes sent Grant Williams, Admiral Schofield, Jordan Bone, and Kyle Alexander to the league.
They weren't five stars.
Recruits know he can help mold them into being successful because he has a proven track record
of doing that with his players at Tennessee.
His biggest draw.

We’ve all been operating under the assumption that most top recruits are getting paid by the likes of Duke, KY, LSU, Arizona, and Kansas. We also have been under the assumption that CRB runs a clean program. Now we’re getting top 5 recruiting classes. So which one is it? Are we paying for recruits or is it not commonplace for top recruits to get paid?
Barnes put Schofield, Bone, Williams, Alexander, Bowden, Ponz, Springer, and Johnson into the NBA. All but two of them will have been drafted after this year’s draft most likely—and of those drafted all but one of them will have been drafted early. His two one and dones came after he achieved that success. That is how he got them. Now that those two indeed have gone pro in one year, Barnes has proven himself years prior and other programs are under the microscope... it’s about who is the best coach for sending players to the next level and now it is on for Barnes. I choose to believe Barnes played the tortoise and will conclude his career with integrity and on the highest note of his career—and we will have to credit former discredited ADs for bringing him here (along with Vitello) and keeping him here.

I haven't really researched this, but in the past 3-4 years hasn't the majority of 4 and 5* players that Barnes has recruited come from inside the state of Tenn.?

That would indicate a sense of loyalty to play for your state school as long as they are relevant in championship chasing. Also may indicate that we aren't paying for them.

In the end what matters is sending guys to the NBA. Thats where the big money is. No doubt Rick Barnes runs a clean program. He isn't desperate to have 5* divas in his program. He wants the right guys who want to work hard and do things the right way. I think there are a few 5* guys who have this attitude abd thats who we target.

Thats different than UK who, as of recent, has been signing the 5* guys who play with a me-first attitude and looking for social media clout. Those are the types who are most thinking NBA and more likely to be influenced with McDonald money bags

Also, Tennessee is well supported by its fanbase. I wouldn't be surprised if the "name and likeness" rule was a positive gamechanger for us in recruiting

Define “paying recruits.” Rick Barnes himself is not paying recruits, nor does he know if that is occurring.
