Back in the day, we strongly considered transferring to Maryville or to Oak Ridge (that one would have been a reach.) We lived in Knox County.
The only requirement would have been to pay out-of-county tuition. It might well be different now, as this was 12-15 years ago.
I don't know if it's still the same, but several years after the public schools forced the private schools into a separate division (mostly due to the fallout from Brentwood Academy), it split into privates that did not give financial aid to athletes, who could then play public schools, and the others, who then had to travel ridiculous distances to play similar schools. Is that still the case? All I'm saying is if that is the case, how is that different from a Division 1 private school )which cannot give financial aid to athletes), other than the private school kids are not subsidized by any taxpayer dollars and thus must pay far more tuition. The Division 1 private schools are subject to a multiplier, whereby their tuition is multiplied by 1.7 to determine the classification in which they play. If the publics have absolutely no zones, treating the privates differently makes no sense to me.
True. I only know what Ive been told and I usually take the rumormill with a grain of salt, but....lets just say I hope things get straightened out...
