Softball Question

I know the links say it, but I have a serious problem believing that college softball is more profitable/has more viewership than college baseball.

What am I missing?
This article might explain it.

http://www.collegebaseballdaily.com/2016/08/26/2016-college-world-series-television-ratings-tumble/

Basic reasons given:
Big Soccer match forced baseball to switch to espn2.
Final game was played on a Wednesday mid afternoon instead of 8PM the day before (rain out). Resulted in a 73% ratings drop from previous year.
Baseball played one less game.

Also, Coastal Carolina is not a big baseball fan draw.

The softball article was by the Coaches Association. Comparing just the World Series was sort of cherry picking facts, and dubious in making a case for softball's popularity relative to all other sports in competing for TV broadcast time.

Last year was the second straight season that the WCWS outrated the Men's CWS. The year before, none of the reasons for reduced baseball ratings listed were present.

Still not sure I can believe it.
I feel like something funny is going on with the stats.

OR

Is it just that most baseball fans are MLB only?
And softball has no other TV outlet?

You can believe it or not, but the ratings numbers are measured by Nielsen, the NFCA just printed the numbers. TVByTheNumbers ran a couple of stories on it as well.

Baseball has gotten too slow at times, I think.

And they always step on home plate when hitting home runs, and therefore the games lack excitement.

Actually, college/minor/major baseball all miss home plate as well from time to time.

But, softball pitchers don't spend 20 seconds before each pitch adjusting their crotch. Lol.

Baseball put in a pitch clock, but I think it resets if the pitcher throws the ball to a base.
